Bishop Willie Royal Scott,Sr.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept my faith. II Timothy 4:7 On January 5,2015,Bishop Willie Royal Scott,Sr.,husband,father,grand-father,step-father,brother and friend reached the triumphant end of his earthly journey and joined God's heavenly caravan. He was born September 17,1937 in Cumberland County,Virginia. To the union of Lucy James and Elwood Scott,who preceded him in death along with his siblings,Sister Marilyn Marshall,brother Elwood Scott and his first wife Norma Lee Streeter-Scott. Bishop Scott was educated in the Cumberland County School System and graduated from Luther P. Jackson High School in 1955. From there,he joined the U.S. Army and served honorably for four years. After his discharge,he attended Virginia State College(Virginia State University). He was introduced to the late Evan. Sue I. Edwards(Mother Sue) in 1959 while working on an addition to the Church at 2129 Ford Avenue, Richmond,VA. Mother Sue introduced him to bible salvation. He accepted and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ according to Acts 2:38. Bishop Scott continued to be diligent working where ever and when ever he was needed with Mother Sue until her passing. After which he worked under Bishop Willie G. Suggs until he was called to South Hill,Virginia to assist Bishop Mary Chandler as her assistant Pastor. Under her leadership he rose through the ranks from Deacon,to Minister,to elder and on October 26,2003 he was ordained bishop. He served faithfully with Pastor Chandler until her passing. After returning home to Cumberland,Virginia he began working with Pastor Lillie Tyler at the New Jerusalem Sabbath Holy Church in Powhatan as Assistant Pastor and Pastor where he remained until his passing. A hard worker and dedicated family man,his priorities were in order,God,Family and Church. He retired after many years from Reynolds Metals but continued working for several years at Hamilton Paper Company and Groome Transportation. On July 22,2003,he was united in marriage with Virginia B. Scott and they shares eleven loving years. He leaves to share in his memory-a loving and devoted wife,Virginia Scott,2 daughters,Sabrina Trimiew and Monique Scott,6 sons,Willie Jr.(Shiela),Norman,Sr.Joseph (Constance),Darrell(Cynthia),Quinton,Sr.(Shirelle) and Atilla(Wanda)Scott,9 stepchildren,17 grandchildren,2 great-grandchildren,sister Clara Robinson,brother,Harold Scott and a host of relatives and friends.
