A Time To Be Born WILLIAM LAWRENCE SIMMS, JR.,son of the late William and Bessie Simms, was born on September 10,1944 in Baltimore, Maryland. A Time To Plant William “Buggs” Simms received his formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System. He later chose to further his education by attending Morgan State College and as recent as last year he was attending Essex Community College. At the age of Seventeen he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps where he served two tour in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1966. William was employed for several years as an independent trucker, until he became employed at Sparrows point where he was still employed at the time of his death. In 1975 Buggs met Dee who soon became the love of his life. Throughout the years she was truly his endless love. So finally on July 28, 2006 they were joined in holy matrimony.. A Time To Sow Although Buggs was not an official member of a church he did attend with his wife at times. He possessed a spirit and heart of giving and helping. Whoever needed him, whenever they needed him, they new they could always count on him. He was a great mentor to young people, encouraging and advising them to seek a good education and making the best of what life had to offer by working hard for it. A Time For Family Buggs was a real believer in family. He was a strong believer that the man should be both the provider and protector “AND THAT HE WAS” , not only for his wife, children and grandchildren, but for the entire family. His sisters,brothers, their children and all those he loved and cared for knew he was a true family man. Buggs had a nurturing friendly way that made everyone feel comfortable in his presence. He was loved and respected by both family and friends. A Time To Die Buggs endured a brief illness, and through it all he fought a good fight. On January 18, 2011 his work here on earth was completed. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife and best friend Diane”Dee” Simms; two sons, William and Lawrence Davis; three daughters, Hope Armstead, Terrell Davis and Alea Watts; ten grandchildren, with Alexia being Pop Pop's special baby; two sisters, Teresa Keyes and Danette Simms; brother, Gerald Simms; three sisters-in-law, six brothers -in-law; nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Two brothers preceded him in death Steven and Julius Simms.
