Viola B. Chambers

For then I would fly away and be at rest.” Psalm 55:6Viola Beatrice Eubanks Chambers was born May 10, 1930 in Chatham County, North Carolina to the late Joe and Lucy Eubanks. She peacefully went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2002 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was a member of the Pennsylvania A.M.E. Zion Church in Baltimore until her health prevented her from attending. She was a woman with a giving and caring heart and always willing to help those in need, which in turn, yielded the love and respect of many. She and a neighbor founded a neighborhood youth program that inspired youth to take pride in their neighborhood. She shared her creative abilities teaching young ladies to sew and to make various arts and craft items for themselves and fundraisers. Teenage friends of her children admired her as “someone they could talk to.” She worked in retail sales for many years and also did private duty nursing. She cared for her husband, John A. chambers, until she could no longer do so. Words can not express the love and care that she gave to her children over the years. She was a mother, friend, and wise counselor to her children. She is survived by her husband, John A. Chambers in Baltimore; two daughters, Deborah Ann Chambers Carter of Baltimore, Maryland and Gwendolyn A. Chambers Coleman of Chesapeake, Virginia; her son, Vernon Jerome Eubanks (Chambers) preceded her in death; six grandchildren Damon A. Chambers, Diarra W. R. Scott, Alfred B. Coleman II, and Veronica L. Eubanks; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Lessa Eubanks of Queens, N.Y.; and three sisters, Lillian Harmon of Plainfield, NJ, Isadora Beatty and Annie Ruth Davis of Durham, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Charlene Eubanks of Irmo, S.C.; two sons-in-law, James Carter, Jr. of Baltimore, MD and Alfred B. Coleman, Sr. of Chesapeake, Va.; a sister-in-law, Lillie Ruth Miller; a brother-in-law, Cecil Chambers, Sr., and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God and house not made with hands eternal in the heavens.” II Cor.5:1
