Tyrone E. Coates

Tyrone Elsworth Coates was born on July 3, 1949 in Baltimore Maryland to the late Clarence Elsworth Coates and Marie Grimes Coates. On May 24, 2007, he departed this life after a lengthy illness.Tyrone attended McKeesport High School and graduated from Westinghouse High School. Tyrone served in the United States Navy for two years and was honorably discharged. Tyrone worked in the Food Service Industry for the University of Pittsburgh. He moved to Baltimore and began to work for Maryland Gas and Electric Company. Later, Tyrone worked as a bus driver for Dillon’s Motor Coach. Tyrone loved to drive and and repair cars. He especially loved Cadillac’s. Tyrone accepted the Lord as his personal savior at Pittsburgh’s Greater Revival Center. In Baltimore, he joined the Hallelujah Baptist Church. Also, he liked to fellowship with other churches.Tyrone made numerous friends everywhere he traveled. His captivating smile and easygoing personality made him a joy to be around. He was sensitive and very sentimental. He loved to watch the film, “The Color Purple”. He loved to hear the song, “God is Trying To Tell You Something,” He encouraged his children to get an education, work hard, and share love. Tyrone loved to take his children, nieces, and nephews on adventurous trips.Tyrone leaves behind to cherish his memories; two daughters, Dawn White and Ashley Coates; two sons; Tyrone Coates, Jr. and Jade J. Coates, one step-daughter; Darchelle Lantionne-Edmond; one step-son, Steven Jermaine; eight grand-children; Shawn Hamilton, Tyrell Coates, Amoni Coates, Flawzel Hall, Tiara Coates, Amiere Coates, Nyah Anderson, and Tyree Dean, two sisters; Jacqueline Coates Anderson-“Mama #2 and Carla Coates; five brothers, (late) James Coates, Lloyd Coates, Nolan Coates, Michael Coates and Kenneth Coates. Foster sisters, the Johnson Sisters and The Diggs Sisters, one sister-in-law; Deborah Coates “Mama #1”, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, a very special friends; a very special friend Barbara Hawthorne. Barbara was very dedicated to Tyrone and consistently supported him during his recovery. She had the ability to put a smile on his face during his darkest days.
