Thomas Clifton Pierce

We are grateful for the life of Thomas Clifton Pierce. We love him, and we praise him for his generous and nurturing spirit, his pleasant and quiet spoken personality, his gentleness, dignity, faith, courage and commitment to his family, friends, church and community. THOMAS CLIFTON PIERCE was born on December 7, 1941. He was the fourth child of Johnny and Tenner Pierce. On Sunday morning, October 16, 2022, Thomas Clifton Pierce affectionately known as “Tom,” “Cliff” and “Daddy O,” departed this world and quietly slipped away to be with his Lord and Savior, after a lengthy illness. Thomas received his education from the Baltimore City Public Schools, in which he was involved in many different activities. While a student at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, he played football. In April 15, 1967 he married his childhood sweetheart Augusta Renae Thompson and from this union they had one daughter, Tracey Cecelia. He was a devoted husband and a loving father to his daughter and grandson Tyré Christian. Thomas enlisted in the United States Airforce in 1963 and received an honorable discharge. He began his professional career at General Motors as a welder and crane operator where he remained until his retirement in 1999. At an early age Thomas was inspired by his Christian family to give his life to Christ. He was baptized at Waters A.M.E. Church. Then in 1965 he converted to Catholicism and joined St. Francis Xavier Church where he held membership until the present. As a devout Catholic, Thomas was very pivotal in the church. For many years he was a committed member of the St. Francis Men’s Choir. He was also a dedicated and devoted member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council 323, and the Holy Name Society. Thomas lovingly and wholeheartedly served the Lord each day, and his abundant and blessed life also served his community. Thomas was a pillar in his community. He touched the lives of many. He walked miles and miles to his family’s home to lovingly nurse and aid the sick and shut-in. He enjoyed watching western shows and movies. He enjoyed visiting his loving and beloved relatives near and far. He meticulously manicured his lawn and would assist his neighbors with their lawns as well. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a true humanitarian, indeed. His loving heart, kind spirit, great diligence and his immense love of family and his love of God will be remembered and dearly missed by all who loved and adored him. Thomas was a mentor to his family and friends in many ways. They depended upon him as a person who was willing to offer guidance when and where needed. Now at rest, his generosity and goodwill will continue to live in the hearts and souls of family and friends that he leaves behind. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Tenner Pierce, brothers Junius Pierce, Wilbert Pierce, George Pierce and Levon Pierce. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Augusta; devoted daughter, Tracey; grandson, Tyré; sisters, Hilda James, Barbara Coleman and Marshell Morris-Pierce (Kimmie); brothers, Muciska Pierce (Diane) and Cornell Pierce; sisters-in-law, Delverra Savage (Robert), Maria McNeal, Rosalind Thompson and Betty Pierce; brother-in-law, Claude Thompson (LaNella); numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
