Tawanda Louise McGee

The Fabulous Tawanda Louise McGee was born on January 14, 1971, in East Baltimore, Maryland to the late Deborah Louise Starks and Christian. She passed away suddenly on January 21, 2026, She was lovingly raised by caring grandparents, Anne Florence McGee and Robert McGee. Tawanda was educated in the Baltimore City Public School system. She was a very bright student who stood out academically. Tawanda loved dance classes during elementary school. She also enjoyed doing hair, looking stylish, and cruising around town “Super Sundays.” Tawanda deeply loved her twin sons, Antonio and Antoinne, and dedicated her life to them. As a devoted mother, she dedicated herself to caring for The Twins She also pursued her GED to improve her ability to provide for them. Tawanda grew up with her siblings, Robert, Reggie, Cortez, and Jewel, she had a special relationship with each one. Robert and Tawanda were two peas in a pod; he was affectionately known as her “main apple scrapple” Reggie, her mister-it; Cortez, the muscle; and Jewel, Tawanda’s mini-me, her true jewel. However, each of her siblings looked to Tawanda for guidance, love, and support. After their grandmother’s passing, Tawanda became the main anchor for her siblings. Her home was known as “The Headquarters”. Tawanda was compassionate and heart with everyone. She was a natural leader, inspiring those around here through the incredible sacrifices she made. She expanded her family home to include Fanesha and Darryl as her honorary daughter and grandson. She also enjoyed cooking, dancing, and spending time with family. A dedicated L.A. Lakers fan; she especially admired Kobe Bryant. Tawanda also loved shopping at Macy’s and dining at her favorite spot Longhorn Steakhouse. She served as line supervisor at Alpharma Pharmaceutical. For over 10 years, making a notable impact on the company and her colleagues while building lasting relationships. After years of struggling with addiction, a difficult period in her life, she demonstrated incredible determination and resilience by making a significant change. Through God’s grace, she recovered remarkably and credits Narcotics Anonymous with providing a lasting positive influence on her life. Throughout Tawanda’s remaining years, she wholeheartedly devoted herself to her children, grandchildren, and everyone around her. Tawanda’s vibrant spirit and lively personality helped her from friendships everywhere, positively influencing many lives and leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. In 2024, Tawanda faced another great challenge – she lost her eyesight. Leading up to her death, she continued to exercise daily and was enrolled in life skills classes for the blind because we all know for Tawanda, losing her sight was not greater the fight. During the last few years of Tawanda’s declining health, the twins were there for their mother. While Antoinne provided financial and unconditional support, Antonio eventually became her caregiver, dedicating his time and attention to her care. We are grateful for the they love they both gave until her passing. Tawanda leaves behind cherished memories and loved ones. She is survived by her life-long partner, Lawrence Meredith, two sons, Antoinne and Antonio Hudson; her daughter-in-law, Janay Hudson; and five grandchildren: Darryl (Yo-Yo) Adams III, Arianna (Little Tawanda) Hudson Jayla (Teny-Weeny Tawanda Hudson), Alayah (Lay-Lay) Hudson, and Antonio (“AJ’) Hudson Jr. She is also mourned by her five siblings and brother-in-law: Robert McGee, Reginald Starks, Cortez Starks, Jewel Henderson, LaTonya, and Linsey Obrein. Six nieces are the late Yolanda Pinkney, Rashida McGee, Robyn McGee, Kierra McGee, and Lamira and Laniya O’Brein; three nephews, Devin Adams, Cortez (Junior) Starks Jr. and Jermaine Henderson; and six sisters-cousins, Chandra and Valisa Isaac, Jodi Johnson, Marissa McGee, and Shakiah and Fanesha Jones-Bey; three best friends Leaverne White, Lynette Blaire, and the late Trina Alston; As well as a host of other godchildren, family members, and friends. ,
