Shardena Edmundson

Obituary “A Queen Gone Too Soon” Shardena Edmundson was born on October 5, 1970 in New York City, New York to Betty J. Peeks Edmundson and the late Ahmad Jamal Hasan “James O. Edmundson”. Our beloved Shardena was called home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2016. She was educated in the public schools of South Boston and Halifax County, Virginia where she participated as a Comet on the Girl’s Basketball Team and graduated in 1988. She later furthered her education by attending Saint Paul’s University. Shardena spent her career as a substance abuse counselor at Richmond Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) until she was no longer able to continue working due to her illness. She accepted Christ as her Savior at Mt. Olive Baptist Church at a early age. In the late 2000’s she was united with St. Paul’s Baptist Church. Shardena was a servant of God and held on strongly to her faith. She accepted everyone from all walks of life. She dedicated her life catering to everyone who passed her way. Shardena was generous in giving her time, love and gracious spirit. She was very selfless and strived to make you feel special. She was very outgoing, sociable, full of energy and had a glorious laugh. She was a positive vibrant soul who captivated many hearts. Shardena was a “Queen” with a heart filled of gold, that remained strong until God called summoned her to be one of his newest angels. She devoted more than 10 years as a faithful sportsmom and concessionare to her beloved Chamberlayne Youth Football and Cheering Association Family. Shardena was loved by many of her peers for her endless energy and remarkable integrity, with a niche for being there when you needed her most. Few strangers were able to leave her presence unimpressed; her love for children and people in general created a trusted circle of extended family who lovingly knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory the three joys of her life, daughter, Quinese C. Carter; two sons, Ronald “SeKuan” Carter and Khari Niam Edmundson, all of the home; loving mother, Betty Edmundson of South Boston, Virginia; sister, Rasheeda Edmundson of Richmond, Virginia; brother, Albert Edmundson of Silver Springs, Maryland, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
