Sandra Lee King

Our beloved Sandra, also affectionately known as “Sandy”, quietly entered eternal rest and received her wings into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 25, 2025. She was the seventh child born on November 21, 1970, from the former union of Gladys Hilliard Manuel King and Robert Henry King, Sr. Sandy was baptized at an early age at First Baptist Church of South Richmond and later joined Crusade for Christ, where she was serving diligently as a Deaconess. Sandy received her high school education from John F. Kennedy and later graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from St. Paul’s College. She was the first member of the family to achieve this goal. Sandy was very industrious and a hard worker. She was employed at the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) right out of high school and was elevated to various job positions. She recently retired from VDOT in the Engineering -Location & Design Division after 33 years of dedicated service. During that time, she also received her license as a Real Estate agent. Sandy had a deep passion for writing poems that were inspired by God. She went on to have her poems copywritten and initiated her book journey to be launched in 2026. Sandy was loved by all who knew her, as she was a kind and gentle soul with a sweet spirit. She was always seen wearing a smile and was always ready to assist in any way that she could. She knew that the Joy of the Lord was her strength. Sandy’s favorite phrase was “I’ve got reasons to praise”, inspired by a song that she had written many years ago. She was truly a worshipper and praised God whenever she had a chance. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory: mother, Gladys Hilliard Manuel King; father, Robert Henry King, Sr. (Bernice); three sisters - Teressa Ann King, Valerie Laverne King Hines, Mary Lystine King; three brothers – Robert Henry King, Jr., Gabriel Lewis King, James Frederick King, Sr. (Terri); Nephews – James “BJ” Frederick, Jr., Joshua and Shaun King, Desmond (Kayla) Hines, Darren (Leiah) Hines, Julius Hines, Antoine and Brandon King; Nieces – Valencia Rene Hines, Taylor Marie King, Latara Marrow, Latesha Coleman; Great nephews – Ayden Lee Robinson, Desmond “DJ” Hines Jr.; Great Nieces – Serenity King, Kensli Hines, Lolita “Lola” King, Ava Roberts, Zora King, and a host of other cousins, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends to include one devoted, Wayne Towns. We will always love and miss you, baby girl. We thank God for the gift of you! You will forever and eternally be in our hearts. Even as the tears flow from our eyes, we know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We rejoice and celebrate, knowing that you are now safe in the arms of the Lord. We will love you eternally - Rest in peace, our sweet angel, until we meet again!
