Ruth Pendergrass

Ruth Pendergrass, was born to the late Pinkey Gamble and the Onita Gamble on September 13, 1939. She would transition to Heaven on Monday, February 26, 2018. Known as "Tubie", which was a nick name from her sisters and brothers, adopted by her nephews and friends, or just Mom as she was called by her children and grandchildren was born and raised in New Zion, South Carolina. Mom came to Baltimore to live with Uncle Robert, while in Baltimore, she worked in Domestics. She would later meet and marry James Pendergrass on June 29, 1960. They bother were from South Carolina, but didn't meet until they came to Baltimore, MD. Ruth focused her life on caring for her five children, brothers and sisters. She loved to spend time with family, and always enjoyed food and family gatherings. She was very close to her sisters and would spend long hours talking to them, as well as, her brother Willie Lee. They could never get enough of each other. Mom was very focused and independent. She never wanted you to help her to do anything, even now at age 78. She had to use a cane which she didn't use for a very long time (not until she was 70ish), and this was something she really didn't want to do. Her life resolved around her husband and children. She missed James so much after he went to Heaven, in April 2013. There was never a day that didn't go by that she wouldn't talk about him, and now they are together again for all time. She was such as wonderful Momma, always thinking of her children before herself. She would do anything for them, and any member of her family. She was a God fearing woman that kept her Bible close, praying for each other of her children and family members. She will truly be missed and now she joins the rest of the family cheering her loved ones on from Heaven. Her prayers still remain here in the earth and all will be answered. Ruth is survived by her five children: Debra, Betty Coles, Mary Jackson, Barbara, and Timmy (James, Jr.): Grandchildren: David, William, Ebony, Olivia, and Jasmine; Great Grandchildren: Darius, Daijha, Lutheus, Jr., Jhalyl, Aniya; Brother: Willie Lee and sisters: Ola Jane, and Ida Mae; her deceased brothers: Pinkney, Thomas, and Cleo: along with a Niece: Nicole, Nephews: Eric, Sammie, Anthony, Nathaniel and Rodney; Grandnieces Grandnephews, Cousins and other relatives and friends not mentioned. We Love You So Much Mom and we will miss you, but we know you are keeping watch over us from Heaven.
