Rodney Covington

RODNEY COVINGTON, the son of the late Shirley T. Covington Hackett and Leslie Wharton, was born on September 21, 1964, Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on February 19, 2023. Rodney, affectionately known as "Rock", received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. As a child Rodney enjoyed riding and jumping ramps with his bike. He also liked putting bikes together from different parts he would find on the streets. He truly enjoyed working with his hands on different kinds of machines. Rodney enjoyed playing football, and basketball in his youth. Hanging out on Barclay Street was one of his favorite pass times. Rodney had various temp jobs, City Builders, HVAC heating and plumbing and the Port of Baltimore. He also had his own moving and hauling company named "C7". He believed in entrepreneurship. One of his sayings was "God Bless the Child that has his own". Rodney had a true heart for children. He adopted his first child Shakia Jones form his previous relationship. Then, followed his biological children (Alichia Scott, Labreyah Edmonds) adopted sons Raquan and Cameron. In 2007 Rodney met Lindora Ross, they were married in 2008. In their union Rodney adopted Sharhonda and Tr’yee as his own children. As a family unit they enjoyed big family gatherings, traveling, parties and having cookouts. Everyone enjoyed being around Rodney. He was the life of the party. Rodney was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Covington and Anthony Covington; his sister Antioinette Covington; his niece, Avis Covington and mother-in-law Nannie Ross. Rodney was a dedicated son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. Rodney’s memory will be forever cherished by his wife, Lindora Ross, Shakia Jones, Alichia Scott, Labreyah, Raquan, Cameron, Sharhonda, and Tr’yee. Grandchildren Kyirin, Kamori, Kegan, Kayden, Kori, Cayden and Aubrey. Two brothers, Michael Covington, and Vernon Covington; one sister, Jacqueline Covington; three aunts, Diane Kenan, Rosalind Simpson and Beverly Grady of North Catolina; father-in-law Edward Ross (Marie) sisters-in-law, Donna Black, Janynee Covington, Frances (tony) Sonya (Gary) April (Mark) and Esther. Nephews: Richard Covington, Jr., Antonio Blue, Berrick Covington, Michael Covington, Jr., Anthony Cooley, Keith Covington, Jr., Vernon Covington, Jr. Rodney Convington, Dominic Covington and Corey Covington, Nieces: NIketta Covington, Chavon, Sherriel, Naykia, Sakida, Janae Covington and Ad’rea Covington; Great nieces and nephews, Derius Covington, Chyna Blue, Dierra Blue, Acooria Blue and Alaysia Cooley, Nyauana, Saniyah, Zion, Anthony Cooley Jr., Amaya, Logan, Ava and Noel; And a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
