Robert Lee West

Robert Lee West, 57, was born July 16, 1958 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Beatrice and William H. West, Jr. He departed out of this world unto the pearly gates of his Father on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Robert received his formal education and graduated from Highland Springs High School in Highland Springs, Virginia. He furthered his education at John Tyler Community College in Chester, Virginia and J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond, Virginia. He enlisted in the United States Marines serving his country proud and received an honorable discharge. Robert was employed by Carpenter Company as a truck driver for many years. He was affectionately called “Bobby” by his family and many friends. He was known for his positive attitude, energy and had a contagious smile that would light up a room with joy. He had a way of turning your bad day into a good one with his uplifting personality. Robert was an avid sports fan of the Green Bay Packers. He always said that no one could beat his team and they were No. #1. One of his pleasures was being an artist, fishing and watching old movies. Robert loved being a true comedian of the family which is something he relished doing. Robert truly enjoyed the art of making you laugh and bringing laughter to the entire family and his friends. He was named the historian of the family (so he thought) because he could vividly tell you events that took place years ago. Bobby loved the teachings and proclamations of God’s word. With relentless determination, whatever the task, Bobby sought to beat the odds and lived his life with purpose to glorify God and win souls for Christ. He was preceded in death by his three siblings, Beverly West-Sutton, Janice West and William West III. Robert leaves to cherish his memory daughter, Shatonya James; three sons, Al´Shiek West and Rahakeem James and Andre Flemings; three grandchildren, CyKoria, Viona and Samaiya James; three sisters, Mary West Jones, Christine West-Harris (Tim) and Earline West Walker (Kermit); family member, Marie S. West; and a host of other relatives and caring friends. We pray peace to be still upon you, all who met and loved our brother, “Bobby Box” who would just laugh when you called him that. We are truly going to miss him, but we know it is well with Bobby Box because of who he was in Christ Jesus and the love he had for the Father.
