Robert Lee Jordan Sr.

Legacy of Love Robert Lee Jordan, Sr. was born March 12, 1930, to the late Willie Lee Jordan and Mary Almeta Street. He was the third son of 10 children (all are deceased) born in this union, and was born and raised in Dewitt, Virginia. Robert was affectionately given quite a few nicknames: Bob, Uncle Bob a Lee, Pop, Pa Pa, Uncle Robert Lee and Daddy. He was baptized at the age of six at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Dewitt, Virginia. He was a faithful member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church, served as an usher for many years. He was voted Man of the Year at Mount Tabor Baptist Church November 2016. Married on February 27, 1954, Robert enjoyed 56 years of marriage to Indiana Robinson Jordan (she went home to glory March 14, 2010). Robert and Indiana shared a loving life together. Some of their happiest times were spent with their children, relatives, and friends. Back in the day, before they gave their lives to the Lord, the sisters and brothers would get together and have a real good time! After committing their lives to the Lord, they still got together and had a real good time in the Lord! Robert was educated in the Dinwiddie Public Schools. He attended Dinwiddie Training School, graduated in 1948. After school, he was inducted February 6, 1951, into the United States Army where he served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged November 1956. He was a truck driver for over 40 years, retiring from Wyatt Transfer in 1992. He was always a loyal, steadfast, and dedicated worker. Robert loved much and was loved by everyone. He will be remembered for his ability to always make everyone laugh and smile, for his playful ways, and those beautiful dancing eyes. He lived to please others and tried to treat everyone with respect and kindness. Just like the God he served, Robert treated everyone equally. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted children; two daughters, Dorethea Y. Nelson, Rev. Joan A. Robertson (Rev. Lee Sr.); one son, Robert Lee Jordan Jr. (Ruby Smith); four grandchildren, James Adkins Jr. (Chara), Shermine Jones (Timothy), Rashawna Perry and Robert LaRon Jordan; five great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Mitchell (late Johnny Mitchell, Sr.); Mary Jordan (late John Jordan); and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loyal family and friends.
