Quentin A. Young

Quentin Armstead Young was born on April 12, 1948, to the late Beatrice Quillen and Robert Young. He was also lovingly raised by Miss Louise Travis, who preceded him in death. He took his flight to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, surrounded by his family. Quentin grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, where he attended the Baltimore City Public School System and received a lifetime degree from University of South Baltimore (aka Southern High School) in 1967. A dedicated and hardworking man, Quentin built a life of service and craftsmanship. He worked at Baltimore City Parks and Recreation Center, Obrecht Construction Company and later with Shimba Tailoring Shop where he retired in 2011. In every role, he was known for his reliability, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. Quentin was a faithful member of the historic Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church, in Baltimore, Mayland. Quentin met and married the love of his life Nicole; while attending the Church and they had three children Stacy, Stephanie, and Justin. Quentin was Pop Pop to Kallie, which was his pride and joy. Quentin had a strong relationship with the Lord. He loved to minister to men and young adults. As a committed member Quentin wore many hats including member of the choir, choir director, Men's Ministry director, the Women's Missionary Society as an associate, Lay Organization and the Security Team (Topflight). He was also a member of The Believers New Teacher Bible Study, under the leadership of his good friend and brother Rev. Craig Lofton. Known affectionately as "Q" Quentin, had a lifelong passion for music and chicken. He had to have fried chicken at every event. Quentin sang with multiple groups throughout Baltimore, sharing his gift through R&B and gospel. He sang with Jack's Jolly Lads, First-Class, First-Class Review, Heavenly Blessed, Voices of Affirmed Odyssey and 1 Accord. Quentin Young and Keith Matthews were the founding members of 1 Accord. 1 Accord has sung in multiple cities and venues as well as the Appollo Theater in New York City. Quentin's voice, warm and soulful, was a source of comfort and celebration for many. Quentin loved sports, especially Monday night wrestling, basketball and playing a good game of pinochle. He was known for cheating at spades, always having to win. He really enjoyed both line dancing and hand-dancing. He was a great debater. Quentin also loved to spend time at family gatherings, and hanging out with friends. Quentin served as a little league baseball coach for the Carroll Park Blues Jays and Rays. Boobie as the kids knew him, was always smiling, fun loving and caring. He loved looking good all the time whether casual or dressed. He loved looking sharp. Always coordinated. Quentin's life was marked by kindness, humor, devotion, and song. He touched the hearts of all who knew him and leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family. Quentin made it home with the Lord and reunited with his siblings: Theodore, Larry, Senora, Sonia, Stephen, Francine and Jessie. He is survived by his loving family: his devoted wife, Nicole; four children, Natalie, Stacy, Stephanie and Justin; adopted daughter, Dashawn (Anthony); grandchildren, Kallie, Zella and Princeton; Sibling, Maurice (Michele), Rodney, Denise (Tony), Lamont, Cheryl (Mark), Emmanuel (Cynthia), Dana (Veronica), Gilbert (Celeste) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 1 special lifetime friend Gary Stubbs.
