Otto Brinson

Otto Brinson, 67, of Charles City, Virginia was called home to the gates of Heaven on March 1, 2016. He was born in Enfield, North Carolina to the late Jasper and Christine Brinson on July 3, 1948. Otto was the 8th child of 14 siblings. He is preceded in death by his son, Cornelius Goode; daughter, Teressa Crawley; brothers, Jasper, Clark, Will, Willie, Lloyd Nathan and Lee Brinson; sisters, Emma Talley, Rose and Carolyn Brinson, all of North Carolina. Otto accepted the Lord as his personal savior at an early age and became a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Enfield, North Carolina. He received his education in the North Carolina Public School System and as a young man he moved to Richmond, Virginia to seek employment. Prior to his death, Otto was employed for over 40 years with LaFarge Holcim as a heavy equipment operator and miner. On October 1, 1972 he married Marylee Crawley and their union created a blended family of six children. One of Otto's greatest joys was loving and cherishing his family. His other interests were playing and listening to music, sitting under the magnolia tree, going to his grandson's little league football games where he became affectionately known as the "team grandpa" and playing the lottery. But, most of all Otto will be remembered for his kind and generous heart, helping others, telling jokes, his laughter and spending time with his family and friends. Otto leaves to cherish his memory wife, Marylee Brinson; children, Silas, Stewart and Steven (Earlene) Crawley, Silene Johnson and Sheila Simms; two he considered daughters, Courtney Crawley (granddaughter) and Kathy Washington; godson, Richard Hampton Jr.; sisters, Clementine Brinson and Ida(Junnie) Washington, of Littleton, North Carolina, Dorothy Crowell; brother, James (Pat) Brinson of Enfield, North Carolina; one aunt, Mary Brinson of North Carolina; three brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law, 14grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; two special friends, Elaine Crewe and Garrett Howard; and a host of other relatives and friends.
