Mary E. Murray

Mary E. Murray, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, peacefully passed away on October 16, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland following a lengthy illness. She was born on March 15, 1945, in Northeast Baltimore, Maryland, the beloved daughter of the late Ora Banks. Mary later met and married the love of her life, the late William Murray, Sr. who preceded her in death in 2005. Through this loving union, three children were born. Mary’s life was marked by strength, compassion, and an unwavering devotion to her family and community. For over 40 years, Mary severed faithfully at St. Joseph Hospital as the head Dietitian, where she was deeply respected for her dedication and admired for her warm and caring spirit. Known for her sense of humor and famous saying, “Girl, you are crazy if you don’t stop” she brought joy and laughter to all who knew. Although it took some convincing, Mary eventually agreed to retire—a decision that allowed her to spend even more cherished time with her family. A proud graduate of Baltimore City Schools, Mary was also a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church for more than 38 years, where she joyfully sang in the choir. She loved cooking, singing and, most of all, spending time with her family - especially her grandchildren, who were truly the joy of her life. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William Murray, Sr. loving parents, her brothers Larry Odom’s Harold Banks, Phil Banks, and Sherman Banks, and her sister. Ruth Pugh of Pennsylvania & her Great-great daughter, Josalyn. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter, Cynthia Murray, two loving sons William Murray and Robert Murray (Susan), and her grandson -turned -son Juwan Scott whom she lovingly raised as her own. Mary is also survived by her beloved granddaughters Tiarra Murray, Tawanda Murray, Lanaire Murray, Amber Murray, and Charmelle Coleman; and her grandsons Juwan Scott, Stephon Murray, Xavier Murray, Tyrone Murray, and Quante Murray. She also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren & great-great grands who will miss her dearly. In addition, Mary leaves to treasure her memory her dear friend Clarence Langley, henry aka Kennard along with many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts. Mary’s legacy of love, laughter, faith and kindness will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her.
