Mary E Griffin

Mary Elizabeth Griffin (Cooper), Blessed the world with her arrival on January 8, 1942 to the late William Randolph and Mary Alice Cooper (Curry). Out of this union she was the 6th of 8 children. Mary, better known as Betty, began her Christian journey by accepting Jesus Christ as her savior at the age of 17 and worked tirelessly doing the Lord’s work at Triumph Church of God until her transition by teaching Sunday School, serving as church Mother and serving on other auxiliaries in the church. She was truly a child of God, knew His word and Lived it! If the church doors were open, she was there. She was a breast cancer survivor! She received her education in Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1960. Mary was a loyal, dependable, punctual employee of Mercy Medical Center (Baltimore) for 30+ years. She married the late Edward Griffin in July 1969 and they shared 1 son and 5 daughters. She was proficient at whatever she set her heart and mind to do. She loved sewing and made many of her children’s outfits in their younger hears. She was a excellent cook and served as a nurturing surrogate or 2nd mother, grandmother, aunt etc. to many. “ Her door was always opened to anyone who needed to be there. Her words were always not only encouraging but loving and if she hadn’t seen you in a while, she gave you the tightest, warmest hugs.” Mary was affectionately known as Betty, Sister Mary, mommy, GG and/or granny. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Felicia Ann, William Jr. (Sonny), Earl and Louis. She lives on in spirit through her remaining siblings, Shirley, Esther and Nathaniel; in-laws, Nathaniel and Joan; children, Anthony, Terese, Tonya, Janel, Kimberly and Lynda; son-in-law, Anthony; daughter-in-law, Brenda; son-in-love, Pedro; grandchildren,Jewel, Tiffany, Briana, Teairra, Jackie, Kaneilus, Ki’yon, Kquentez, Iyia, Pedro, Kennedy, McKenzie, I’zayah, Jace, Jaxston, and Justin; great grandchildren, Amber, Jordyn, Kaniya, Tory, Kaneilus Jr., Kashmia, Kylie, Rian, Prince and Tyler Rae; one aunt, Maxine; several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, adoptive children (you know who you all are), Church family, friends and acquaintances.
