Mamie Louise Carroll

Peace and eternal rest came to MAMIE LOUISE HOLLOWAY CARROLL early in the morning on Friday, February 24, 2006, at Harford Gardens Nursing Home. Mamie was the youngest of six children born to the late William and Lucinda Clemons Holloway on March 28, 1919, in Augusta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, mother, father and all her sisters and brothers.Mamie attended the Augusta, Georgia public school system. Employed by a private family she traveled with them to Baltimore, Maryland and settled there. Later, she met and married, the love of her life, the late John Carroll, fondly known as Jim Boots in 1940. They were blessed with one daughter Anita Mechele.She was an excellent homemaker always keeping an immaculate home. She spent many hours cooking, canning and preserving vegetables from her garden. One of her greatest joys was to share the fruits of her garden or to watch others eat the many different types of foods she loved to prepare. Her home was always tidy and she loved to decorate. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and crocheting. Once, she even made curtains for her bathroom from one of her favorite evening gowns.During her life she belonged to the Revelers Social Club and served several offices within the club. She was briefly employed by both the Barn and Greenway Restaurants in Glen Burnie. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church for approximately 30 years. Mamie loved to wake everyone up each morning playing her spiritual music and her favorite scripture was John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, who so ever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” Later in life although she attended no particular church she used to often say “I am just happy to be a child of God”.She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving daughter, Anita Carroll Jackson, of Glen Burnie, two grandchildren, NaTasha Robinson Harvey and husband, Mark of Glen Burnie, Randy Robinson of Bowie; two great grandchildren, NaMarcco and Imani Harvey; one son-in-law, William Jackson; one sister-in-law, Vertex Carroll of Annapolis; one brother-in-law, Raymond Bowman of Newark, New Jersey; a host of nieces and nephews who loved her very much, several godchildren, other relatives and friends.
