Mable Whittle Bracey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Obituary Mable Whittle Bracey was born in Mecklenburg County (South Hill, Virginia) to the late John Wesley and Illinoy Bell Whittle on December 13, 1942. She entered into eternal life Saturday, September 22, 2012. Mable was baptized at an early age at North View Baptist Church of South Hill, Virginia. Mable was a gourmet cook and shared many of her favorite recipes with family and friends. She also loved traveling: Europe, Hawaii, the Caribbean Islands and Cancun were some of her favorite places. Her traveling group will cherish the many adventures they had together. Mable was a Program Trainer for the City of Richmond Department of Social Services. She retired from the city after 34 years of service, May 1, 2007. Our beloved Mable will be missed by all. We know that she lives in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her. Because of the wonderful love she shared, she will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. We were so fortunate to have had her in our lives and we feel empty without her, but we know she would want us to “stay strong”. Mable showed extraordinary strength and courage throughout her life, serving as a role model for her family, friends, and co-workers. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Aderian Fenise Bracey of Richmond, VA; four sisters, Honorie Whittle of South Hill, VA, Alice Ryan (Willie), Deloris Nixon and Freda Bishop (Eric) of Richmond, VA; a niece who was like a sister, Bernice Skipwith of Newark, NJ; one aunt, Iola Bell Pulliam of Silver Spring, MD; one uncle, Chester Bell (Claudia) of Bloomfield, NJ; her godson, Michael Wood of MD; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a devoted friend, Gloria Scott of Richmond, VA. God looked around his garden and saw an empty space. He then looked down upon this earth and saw Mable’s smiling face. God’s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. It broke our heart to see Mable go, but she did not go alone. For part of us went with her the day God called her home.
