Louise Fauntleroy

Deaconess Louise Coleman Fauntleroy, a devoted servant of God, loving matriarch, and cherished friend to many, peacefully transitioned from this life on October 27, 2025. She was born on September 3, 1941 in Walkerton, Virginia to the late Edmonia Frazier Coleman and George “Buck” Washington Coleman. Louise accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Mount Zion Baptist Church in Walkerton, Virginia. She later became a faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia, where she served devotedly as a Deaconess. Her heart for ministry was evident throughout her life, and her passion for compassion, service, and evangelism reflected God’s love in every life she touched. She also served faithfully as Office Manager for First Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia. Louise was a graduate of Central High School in King and Queen County, Virginia, and later pursued further education through Newport News Public Schools Adult Education. She also graduated from Virginia Union University Samuel DeWitt School of Theology in 2004. She built a career marked by leadership, care, and excellence, working with Canteen Neighborhood Café, Robert Hall Village, Champs Restaurant (Manager), and Southland Corporation (7-11, Manager). Deaconess Fauntleroy was known for her gift of hospitality, her heart for evangelism, and her constant smile, one that rested so sweetly that it remained even as she slept. She loved family gatherings and found joy in bringing people together. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith made her a pillar in both family and community. She was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Garland Fauntleroy, on June 15, 1957, establishing a legacy rich in love, faith, and family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Garland Fauntleroy; daughter, Ramona Davis; her parents, Edmonia Frazier Coleman and George “Buck” Washington Coleman; sister, Ernestine Hill; brothers, Douglas Coleman, Henry Coleman, and Richard Coleman; sister-in-law, Cynthia Fauntleroy; and nephew, Arthur Coleman. Left to treasure her memory are her devoted children: daughter, D. Darlene Fauntleroy (Richmond, VA); sons, Garland Timothy Fauntleroy, Richmond, VA, Michael Anthony Fauntleroy (Joanne), Denver, CO, and Charles Warren Fauntleroy, Newport News, VA. Cherished grandchildren: Kena Giles (Jamie), Kimberly Fauntleroy, Sade Fauntleroy, Crystal Fauntleroy, Siobhan Fauntleroy, Ciara Fauntleroy, Antwan Fauntleroy, and Michael Fauntleroy, Jr. Adored great-grandchildren: Janiya, JoVaun, Khalid, Tyshawn, Lashawn, Aaliyah, Amiyah, Maurice, Aayah, Antawn Jr., Trinity, Micah, Marley, Charlotte, and Kani. She also leaves her siblings: George Frank Coleman, Richmond, VA; Charles Dwight Coleman, Manila, Philippines; Jaqueline Brown (Ulysses), Portsmouth, VA; sisters-in-law Hilda Coleman and Sandra Coleman; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, her beloved church family, and friends. The family of Louise C. Fauntleroy wishes to express thanks and sincere appreciation for the generous outpouring of prayer and all other acts of kindness during mom’s illness and this time of bereavement.
