Linda Marie Sinkler

Linda Marie (Thompson) Sinkler was born on March 7, 1954 in Paterson, NJ. She was one of eight children born to the late Johnnie B. and Rosa Marie Thompson. Linda was educated in the Paterson Public Schools. She was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and also studied at Tombrook College in West Paterson, NJ. At an early age, Linda confessed Christ as her personal savior, was baptized and became a member of the St. Luke Baptist Church of Paterson, NJ under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. A.M. Tyler. Linda actively served and participated in the Life of the St. Luke Church throughout her entire life until she relocated to Richmond, VA in 2007. Upon her relocation to Virginia, Linda continued her Christian nurture, first uniting with the Fifth Street Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. F. Todd Gray and the later years uniting with the Cedar Street Baptist Church of God under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Anthony M. Chandler. Linda's service and ministry involvements over the years included serving as an Usher and being active in Mime Ministry, Sewing Ministry, Christian Social Action Ministry, Women's Ministry, Women's Bible Study, and Church School. Linda was also a member of the Red hat Society(Virginia Crowns). For over twenty years, Linda was employed in the banking industry. She was later certified as MED Technician ans was employed at Clara's Adult Home in Richmond, VA. Linda loved to travel, dance, cook, eat and spend time with her family and friends, especially her children. Linda was a vivacious, Kindhearted, no nonsense matriarch. Linda loved and valued her family and met everyone with a smile. On Wednesday, July 15, 2020 Linda departed this life, leaving all in shock and sorrow. She will be sorely missed. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Sinkler; brothers, Herman, Johnnie, and Steven Thompson; sisters, Barbara and Marilyn Thompson. Her love, memory and inspiration will forever be engraved in the hearts of her son, Kareem Thompson of Paterson, NJ; daughters, Malika Marie Sinkler and Walima Aida Sinkler of Richmond, VA; granddaughters,Yamira Hodgson-Sinkler and Makayla J. Sinkler-Dunn; sister, Carolyn V. Thompson-Anderson of Atlanta, GA; brother, Calvin Thompson of Elizabeth, NJ; brothers-in-law, Gregory Anderson of Atlanta, GA and Guy Weston of Washington, DC; sister-in-law Patricia Thompson of Paterson, NJ; special friend, James Thornton of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and host of other relatives and friends.
