Leslie Anderson

August 17, 1961 was a special day in the life of Evelyn Walker Anderson and the late Sydney Anderson; that was the day they became the proud parents of a bouncing baby boy named Leslie who was born in Richmond, Virginia. He was fondly called “Les”. Les was the brother of Pattie and Cheryl (deceased).He received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church. Les attended the Richmond public schools where he graduated from John Marshall High School.Prior to his employment at Doe & Ingalls of Virginia as a Warehouse Supervisor, he worked at Reynolds Metals Company in Corporate General Services for a number of years. While at Reynolds, he met his future bride. Les married the former Francene Williams on September 26, 1987. This union joined him with Nicole, Jerry, and Monica.Les was a sound family man. He was a loving husband, devoted father, a proud and patient “PaPa”, devoted son, and loyal brother. Les had many hobbies which included golfing, bowling and playing pool with his friends; playing video games with his cousins; and spending time with family and friends.Les was such a nice person with a ready smile. Most people looked at Les as one of the most genuine people you could meet. Les never met a stranger!On Sunday, July 23, 2006, God called Les home after a brief battle with cancer. God saw that he was getting tired, and he did what he thought was best. He came and stood beside him and whispered “Les, come on home with me and rest”. Les leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Francene Anderson; two daughters, Nicole Byrdsong (James) and Monica Williams; one son, Jerry Williams; four grandchildren, Kevin, Marquis, Justin and Miles; mother, Evelyn Walker Anderson; sister, Pattie Anderson; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Madeline Dockery; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Marsha Johnson; two uncles, Harry and Rudolph Walker; three nieces, Ashley Eboni Anderson and Jessica Johnson; three nephews, Bryan Anderson, Jordan Wilkerson and Douglas Johnson (Stacey); and a host of cousins and lifetime friends, among them loyal and compassionate neighbors of Sterling Forest and Mitchel Tree Subdivisions. Les was also blessed with his “Guardian Angel” Nathaniel Ford and all his care givers.
