LARRY O’NEIL CONAWAY, beloved son of the late Irvin and Hortense Conaway, was born on April 25, 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland. He lived a life marked by resilience, kindness, and unwavering strength. On December 15, 2025, Larry peacefully departed this life following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Larry received his early education at Baltimore City College High School during its era as an all-boys institution. His years at City were defined by brotherhood, tradition, and excellence values that shaped the man he would become. After graduating, Larry began his professional journey at the Four Seasons Restaurant in Pikesville, Maryland, working as a line cook. It was there that he discovered a passion for cooking. Larry was a chef in his own right, especially during family gatherings and holidays, and created memories that will be cherished forever. Larry later transitioned into the automotive industry, where he quickly established himself as a trusted and knowledgeable service technician. He began at Mr. Tire, honing his technical skills, and continued to expand his expertise at Koons Ford. His most significant professional chapter unfolded at the Lexus Service Department, where he dedicated 15 years of service. Through his leadership, integrity, and deep understanding of the automotive world, Larry rose from Service Manager to Director a role he fulfilled with distinction until his retirement. He earned the respect of colleagues and the trust of countless customers through his steady guidance and unwavering professionalism. Among Larry’s greatest blessings was meeting the love of his life, Deborah Fay Johnson. Their union, sealed on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1999, marked the beginning of a remarkable 25-year journey. Their marriage was a shining example of devotion, laughter, and steadfast partnership. Together, they built life rooted in love and mutual respect, weathering life’s challenges and celebrating its joys, hand in hand, heart to heart. Deborah was not only Larry’s wife but his constant companion and source of strength. From the moment of his diagnosis, she stood faithfully by his side, offering compassion, courage, and unwavering care. Her devotion reflected the depth of their bond and the enduring love they shared. Their journey together reminds us of the power of commitment and the grace found in true companionship. Larry cherished time spent with his family, both immediate and extended. He especially treasured the moments shared with his sons, Larry and Ryan. Their relationship was built on laughter, deep conversations, and shared experiences. The memories they created will forever stand as a testament to the love and connection they shared as father and sons. A passionate Ravens fan through and through, Larry and Deborah never missed a game. Whether cheering from the stands in Baltimore, following the team out of-state, or from his favorite chair at home, decked out in purple and black. Game days were more than football; they were about tradition, laughter, and togetherness. One of his favorite rivalries games was the legendary matchup between the Ravens and the Steelers, which became a playful battleground between Larry and his sister Sandra, a devoted Steelers fan. Their good-natured teasing, jokes, and jabs, win or lose, brought joy to everyone around them. Larry lived his fandom to the fullest, meeting Ravens players, attending galas, and even proudly posing with the 2020 Super Bowl trophy. He will forever remain part of the Ravens flock, soaring high in spirit and cheering us on from above. Larry also enjoyed playing golf. For him, it was more than a sport, it was the serenity of early morning tee times, the laughter shared with his cousin Kirk and friends, and the fellowship that made every round memorable. Golf brought him joy, peace, and connection. Throughout his life, Larry embodied the values of hard work, loyalty, and principle. These qualities defined his character and guided his journey. He lives on in the hearts of all who knew him and will be deeply missed. His legacy is one of love, friendship, laughter, and a life lived with purpose and kindness. His memory will remain a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to share in his journey Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Hortense Conaway, and his sister, Cynthia Conaway. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Deborah Fay Conaway; sons, Larry Stokes, Ryan Conaway and Kevin Johnson; brother, Anthony Conaway; sisters, Sandra Conaway-Jones and Cheryl Conaway; beloved aunts, Mamie Yerby, Sarah Barney and Phyllis Conaway; uncles, Melvin Conaway, Paul Conaway and Ferly Yerby; grandchildren, Charleah, Ryan, Raegan, Marcel Conaway, Mikell Smith, Kevin Johnson Jr. and Skylar Johnson; daughter-in-law, Melinda Conaway; sisters-in-law, Ella Myers and Melba Conaway; brother-in-law, Gerard “Jody” Jones; nieces, Jasmin Jones, Nia Crowell, Simone Conaway and Cheryl Faulk; nephews, Anthony Conaway Jr., Brian and Malachi Chase, Gerard Jones and Kenneth Morton; and a host of other family and friends. He also leaves behind a devoted lifelong family friend, Andrea Bowser. His legacy lives on in the relationships he nurtured and the kindness he showed to all who knew him. Larry was a man whose spirit touched many, and whose presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
