Kevin R. Connor

Kevin Raynard Connor was born on June 4, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland to John and Barbara Connor. On Sunday, June 16, 2002, Kevin suddenly departed this life.Kevin graduated from Edmondson High School in 1978. Afterwards, Kevin began matriculating at UMBC. He majored in mathematics and mass communications. Kevin pledged and gained membership to the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, while at UMBC. In 1978, Kevin became employed at Maryland National Bank. Here, Kevin met Clara Cherry and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on June 26, 1987. From this blessed union, daughter – Jessica was born.Kevin also matriculated at the Broadcasting Institute of Maryland. He studied broadcasting and engineering. During this time, he served as an actor in a Katz Insurance commercial. In 1981, Kevin began his career with the Baltimore County Government. Here, Kevin progressed from the Office of Public Works, to the Office of Planning and Zoning, to the Office of Fair Practice. Kevin was the co-founder of the Phone Group Corporation. He was a board member of the Department of Social Services, a member of the Maryland Alumni Association and a devoted member of the New Psalmist Baptist Church. Kevin was also one of the originators and facilitators of the Baltimore County African American Cultural Festival. Kevin became affectionately known as the “go-to guy” by the Baltimore county network.Kevin was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed fishing, golf, football, basketball and baseball. Kevin was known for his secret bar-b-q sauce. He loved people – all people. He met no strangers. Kevin knew everyone - from the rich and famous to the everyday street sweeper. Kevin was extremely sociable and possessed a charm that would brighten anyone’s day. Kevin was a great listener and communicator. He was a crucial part of the New Psalmist Baptist Church Communication Ministry. His responsibilities included cameraman and producer. Kevin led and trained the upcoming bloomers of the ministry. Kevin facilitated the implementation of the Empowering Disciples Television Broadcast Ministry at the New Psalmist Baptist Church.Kevin was a great husband and father. He loved his family dearly. Kevin will be missed by all who knew him.Left to cherish Kevin’s memory are: his wife, Clara; his daughter, Jessica; his parents, John and Barbara Connor; his mother-in-law, Ruby Boulware, his father-in-law and wife, James and Fostine Jarman; his sisters, Karen Connor-Quamina and Darlene Connor; five brother–in-laws, Charles Quamina, Paul Cherry III, Kastedera Cherry, Calvin Cherry, and Donte Boulware; five sister-in-laws, Bernice Snyder, Linda Salisbury, Robin Cherry, Chrysenia Cherry, Kassedra Cherry; one aunt and uncle, Annette and Charles Mercer; two God-sons, Charles E. Young II and Andrew Braddy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
