Kathleen (Reason) Reaves

Kathleen Reason Reaves was born in Dundalk, Maryland; on May 29, 1948 to the late Howard H. and Lena A. Reason. Kathleen, affectionately know as “Kathy”, was the youngest of four children. On Tuesday, April 20, 2010, in the early morning hour, Our Heavenly Father sent His angel to pluck one of His flowers, from the garden of life. Kathy passed quietly from this life at Genesis Health Care Nursing Home, College View Center; Frederick, Maryland after a lengthy illness with Multiple Sclerosis to enter the realm of eternal peace. Kathy was educated in the Baltimore County Schools System. She graduated in 1966 from Sollers Point High School where she was a member of the “Jive Five” Poetry Club. She wrote many poems, and was editor-in-chief of her high school Poem Book. She furthered her education by attending and graduating from Morgan State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology in 1970.During Kathy’s early days of life she attended New Shiloh Baptist Church, Turners Station, MD and joined the church professing her love of God at a young age. While attending college, Kathy met William L. Reaves during her last few days at Morgan, and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on June 5, 1971, in Baltimore, MD. Kathy was employed for a short time by the State of Maryland Employment Security as an Employment Interviewer before traveling to Fort Knox, Kentucky to enjoy life as a military officer’s wife. Kathy enjoying reading, traveling, painting, ceramics and macramé and decorating their many homes, especially their first home in Fort Bragg Dependent Schools, as a Substitute Teacher and Instructional Assistant. She found great joy in teaching her Kindergarten students new skills. During her second year of marriage, her only child, Philip Christopher was born on April 23, 1974 to this union. While at their next duty station of Okinawa, Japan, Kathy devoted her time to being a loving and protective Mother to Philip. After traveling and several more moves she returned with her family to Maryland, where they resided in the Fort Meade area, eventually settling in Millersville, Maryland. She leaves to rejoice in her memory, a loving husband of thirty-eight years, William (Bill); a devoted son, Philip; brother, Howard R. Reason (Shirley); sister-in-law, Marcia Reason; mother-in-law, Mary L. Reaves, brother-in-law, Anthony Reaves (Darlene); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Kathy was preceded in death by her sister Peggy Fair and brother Robert Reason. In addition, we acknowledge her special nieces, Anita Reason and Denise Fair.
