Jovon Antwon Kelly

You can only have one Jovon patient, kind and true; No other Jovon in all the world will be the same to you. For all his loving kindness, he asks nothing in return. As we look upon his picture sweet memories we recall, Of a face so full of sunshine and a smile for one and all. Sweet Jesus, take this message to our dear beloved up above; Tell Jovon how we miss him and give him all our love. On Friday, August 26, 2011, our beloved Jovon Antwon Kelly, 34, the first son of Brenda and the late Albert Kelly, departed this earthly life bound for his heavenly mansion. JK, as all affectionately called him, was born March 12, 1977 in Richmond, Virginia. JK grew up in the East End of Henrico County, where at an early age, he made the most important decision of his life. JK accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at 31st Street Baptist Church. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts, Little Peoples Choir and participated in the youth church activities. Jovon was educated in the Henrico Public Schools System and graduated from Highland Springs High School where he was a football player, in the ROTC, was in “Who’s Who” Among High School Students and graduated with honors. Jovon furthered his education by attending Virginia State University and graduated in 2001 with a degree in Business Management. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially with his godchildren, Justin, Isaiah, Lauryn and Damion Jr., and babysitting his niece Laila. He enjoyed watching his cousin Dominic play football and he loved going to the gym to work out. He often traveled and took spontaneous trips. Jovon was a hard worker. He was employed for the last six years as a Consultant-Consumer Mass Business Manager at Verizon. During that time, he received many awards including Diamond Club, which won him a cruise. Jovon also received an award for “best dressed” and this past July, he won a Service Promoter Award for providing outstanding customer service. Jovon was always dressed to the “tee”. If it wasn’t a new suit, it was new shoes topped off by a watch, hat, cologne and ended with his sunglasses and a smile that could light up a room. Jovon is survived by his loving and devoted mother, Brenda Kelly Knight (John); loving sister, Lovonia Kelly; niece, Laila Kelly; devoted grandmother, Helen Wilkerson; caring godmother, Marchell Pleasants; 6 aunts, Doris Thompson Jones (Robert), Claudette Kelly, Vernice Anderson, Rose Kelly, Sheila Kelly and Barbara Clarke (James); 1 uncle, Stanley Reaves; a host of cousins, other relatives and loving friends, Michelle Smith, Garfield Reed, Rico Williams, Curtis Lanneau, Danté Washington, Brian Brooks, Jason Smith and Carlos Watts.
