John Dubose

JOHN “LYNN” DUBOSE was born on October 22, 1935 in Darlington, South Carolina to the late Mornie and Bertha (Dubose). He departed this life on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the age of 86. John attended school in Darlington, South Carolina. In 1954, John met and fell in love with Bessie Lee Robinson, they were married in Darlington, South Carolina. Out of this union, they were blessed with seven beautiful daughters. They moved their family to Baltimore, Maryland. John was employed as a Foreman for Whiting-Turner Construction for over thirty years. He retired from Whiting-Turner in 2002. He pridefully provided and protected his family. John enjoyed traveling and visiting with his family. He loved to dance, attending family gatherings, and he took pride in his job. Riding dad around Baltimore, he would always point out the buildings in Maryland, which he helped build during his employment with Whiting-Turner with a “sincere smile of satisfaction” and happiness. Be sure that when you saw him, he was always nicely dressed and loved wearing his Stacy Adam Shoes. John enjoyed watching classic Westerns, playing cards and singing the Gambler, by Kenny Rogers, and watching Orioles baseball games during his downtime. Everyone could feel his playful and jovial presence. There was never a doubt that his love was unconditional as the patriarch and nurturer of his family. He is preceded in death by his parents: Mornie and Bertha Dubose, his wife, Bessie Lee Dubose; his two daughters, Christine Mills and Carolyn Dubose; his two grandchildren, Randy Mills and Laquana Estep; three brothers James Dubose (His Twin), Willie Dubose Sr., Lawrence Dubose Sr., three sisters Rebecca Grooms, Azalee Wilson, Bertha Mae Clark, his three sisters-in-law Kizzie Mae Hodges, Lottie Mae Dubose, and Valerie Bolton. Leaves to cherish his memory: children, Betty Jean Mills (Ronald), Patricia Ann Brown (Gary), Linette Bennett (Darren), Sandra Dubose, Tammy Dubose, Vanessa Watkins (Terry); son-in-law, Ray Mills; brothers, Wesley Dubose (Lillian) and Grodis Dubose; sister, Janie Jugger (Robert); two brothers-in-law, Leo Wilson and George Grooms; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
