Jean Dale Jordan

JEAN DALE JORDAN was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 2, 1948, daughter of Ruth Jordan and the late Earnest Lee Jordan Sr. Her loving and caring earthly life came to an end quietly during the early morning hours on Thursday, August 16, 2012. God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb; He gently closed her eyes and whispered, “Peace Be Thine”. Jean Jordan was the third child born in the family and the first girl. She was raised in a loving and nurturing Christian home. Her parents introduced Jean and her sibling to hard, honest work at an early age and developed in them sound Christian beliefs that included positive morals, values and a strong work ethic. Jean was baptized at the Faith Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Walter E. Paige, Pastor; and then under the leadership of Dr. Greggory Maddox, Pastor; and remained a faithful member until her illness no longer permitted her to attend. Jean Dale graduated from Dunbar High School in 1967. She worked at Westinghouse then transitioned over to Western Electric. Later Western Electric eventually changed its name to AT&T, then later to Lucent Technology from which she retired in 2002. Jean had a humorous and outgoing personality. She loved playing spades and pinochle with her mother, girl friends, and her brother and sister in-laws. The card table won’t be the same. The class of 1967 of Dunbar High stayed close and eventually became the Golden Girls, meeting once each month to socialize and laugh about the good old days. Family was very important to Jean, and she admired each and every member for who they were, and she spoke of them frequently. Every accomplishment, every success was a sparkle in her eye. Jean appreciated the closeness, love, devotion, support and encouragement given to her by her mother, family members, and close friends. Jean expressed often how blessed she was to have a close loving relationship with her mother, and the two of them talked and laugh often. She leaves to mourn: her mother, Ruth Jordan; sister, Charlene Jordan-Baker (Herbert); brother, Charles Jordan (Francine); two aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of others relatives and friends including Tawanda, a very special niece who assisted with the care of Jean during her illness. Jean claimed all her nieces and nephews as her children, because she loved them so much.
