Janice Doyle

Janice Lenora Doyle made her celebrated entrance into the world on September 13, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA, to proud and loving parents, Archibald and Henrietta Jones, affectionately called Maya and Pop Pop. Janice was a loving, quiet, and gentle child who never complained. Janice acquired her strength from her mother and her loving nature from her father. Together they taught Janice and her older sister Irene about the importance of God, family, love, and strength of mind.Janice used the lessons that she learned from her parents to graduate from Howard University in 1968. There Janice met the love of her life, Raymond Doyle, who was attending Howard University School of Medicine. The two married on June 20, 1970. Soon afterwards Janice obtained her Masters of Arts from the University of D.C. She was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.The loving union of Ray and Jan brought forth four beautiful children: Nicole Kelly, Alexis Dawn, Danielle Rae, and Raymond Archibald. Janice was a caring mother who would affectionately wake her children with her gentle voice singing “You are my sunshine” and put them to sleep with words of wisdom. Janice taught special education in the areas of reading and math resource in the Baltimore City Public School System for ten years. Janice was recognized throughout her teaching career for dedication, loyalty and outstanding service. She enjoyed the camaraderie of her colleagues and the challenges that her charismatic and energetic students provided. Janice was endowed with a sweet demeanor and jovial personality and she understood courage. She saw all of these qualities in her students and spoke of them fondly.As a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Janice’s strong faith in God helped her through her struggle with cancer for the last sixteen years. God allowed her to live a productive life just long enough to see her only son through his eighteenth birthday and her three daughters, Nicole, Alexis, and Danielle become a veterinarian, science teacher, and a dean’s list college student respectively. The values and character that she instilled in her children and love she provided to her husband are everlasting. God recognized the struggle that this wife, mother, daughter and friend was enduring, so on March 30, 2003 at 10:45 p.m. He sent an angel with instructions to bring her, his loving servant, home. Janny, as her husband lovingly called her, now rests peacefully in heaven with the rest of the angels. Her warm smile, caring soul, and laughter will continue to shed God’s light through us all.Janice L.
