James Arthur Brown Jr.

JAMES ARTHUR BROWN JR. was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 26, 1950, to the late James Arthur Brown Sr. and Shirley Delores Brown. James was called home on August 1, 2024, after a battle with a lengthy illness. As a child, James spent a lot of time in his childhood home in the 1800 block of Penrose Ave in Baltimore City. He spent a lot of time with his little brother, Michael and loved to reenact James Brown dances in the neighborhood. He went on to attend Northwestern High School and in 1968 enlisted in the army to fight for his country during the Vietnam War. Upon his return from the war, he held a plethora of jobs, i.e. Baltimore City Parks and Recreation and The Coca Cola Soda Company. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in June of 1975 just in time for the birth of his first-born daughter, Tiffany Monique Brown with the late Sharon Christmas. He was later married to Fadria Brown and through that union Jamie Brittany Brown was born. James was always quick witted and a slick talker. The original “JB” was known to have the gift of gab and a way with the ladies. From his gold chains, down to his shoe game, he was the freshest “Pop Pop” to his grandkids, and he passed down that trait to his children and grandkids. He enjoyed eating crabs, dancing, telling his war stories and watching his westerns to pass the time. He was always a joy to be around and cracking jokes. James had a very giving spirit, he gave to several charities including: ASPCA, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, World Wildlife Fund, and Shriner’s Hospitals, just to name a few. He leaves to cherish his memory: his two daughters, Tiffany Monique Valley and Jamie Brittany Brown; five grandchildren, Liayra Ashleigh Brown, Christopher Jonathan Brown, Taylor Deshay Hasty, Devin Jarrod Johnson and Dijae Jamia Johnson; great-grandchildren, Daliyah Malika Brown, Lotus Monique Foster and “Baby Taylor”; four brothers, Michael Jonathan Brown, Larry Brown, Allen Brown, and Craig Brown; two sisters, Denise Brown and Michelle Brown; his special friend, “Laverne”; and a host of other relatives and family friends.
