The Obituary I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course.So he put his arms around me, and whispered, “come and follow me”Our hearts are deeply saddened by the unfortunate home calling of our beloved Isabella Roberts Bonner, 88 of Richmond, Virginia. She was born May 8, 1921 in Eastover, South Carolina to the late Mattie Grooms Roberts and Matthew Roberts, Sr.,the eldest of ten siblings. Though our days are growing longer with the grieving of our loss, our souls can rejoice in her grace because our beloved is resting in His hands. She joined our heavenly father in the afternoon of January 8, 2010. Because she was a humble and faithful servant of God, her inner strength has served as an inspiration to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Bonner; three brothers, Matthew, Andrew and David Roberts.At an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. She later moved to Richmond, Virginia to seek employment. Isabella’s career included working at Miller & Rhodes Department Store and running her own business “Tinnyboy Soul Food” which specialized in soul food. A couple of her specialities included pig feet, greens and rolls.Her outgoing personality and general outlook on life will forever leave a mark in our hearts. She will always be remembered as a loving, giving, strong and inspiring mother, grandmother, Big Mama and friend. Isabella was a woman of great courage and strength, who shared her joy of living with her family, friends and community. She shared a closeness and special bond with her children, grands and great-grands that was evident to all.She received her spiritual guidance from New St. Mark’s COGIC and SeedTime & Harvest Ministries while her health permitted.Our beloved leaves to cherish her loving memory,one son,Tyrone Roberts; three daughters, Margaret B. Conway,Sharon Fuller and Esther Bonner; god-daughter, Darlene Carlyle; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, devoted Adriane (Delbert) Bush and Jameisha Fuller; three sisters, Rosa Champion, Mary and Georgianna (Norris Sr.) Belton; three brothers, Bosie (Nell), Hamp (Bernice) and Henry (Sharon) Roberts; several nieces and nephews, devoted Leroy (Valarie) Roberts, Vanessa Roberts and Patricia Roberts (Cleveland) Ford; two other sisters-in-law, Willie Marie (Roy) Scott and Florine Roberts, and a host of other relatives and friends.
