Hosea T. Blackwell

Hosea Timothy Blackwell, son of the late Elder Charles Blackwell and Geneva Blackwell, was born on December 18, 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland. On April 2, 2009, after a brief but intense illness, Hosea thanked Mother for her love and support and reached up to take God's hand. Now, he is home with his Lord.Hosea Blackwell graduated from the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (Baltimore City Public Schools). He also attended Bowie State College, majoring in Sociology. Hosea was employed by the Boys Village of Maryland, working with troubled youth, for 15 years. This company recognized Hosea's loyalty and commitment to high quality work and excellence throughout his years of service to the company. Recently, the entire Douglas Consulting and Computer Services celebrated their appreciation of Hosea and his longevity with the company.At an early age, Hosea gave his life to Christ at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in East Baltimore. Hosea lived his faith by the way he placed Jesus at the center of his life and treated others. After searching for a different kind of church experience and faith walk, Hosea discovered and joined the Huber Memorial Church where many of his "old" friends were members. At this church, he had the opportunity to really study the "Word" and become a member of the Men's Fellowship group. This group prayed with Hosea every morning from 4:45 until 5:00 a.m. offering comfort and peace as well as unconditional friendship. Hosea loved being a part of this group and told family and friends about this "special connecting experience.Whenever Hosea's name was mentioned or he entered a room, everyone would light up because Hosea radiated love for all. Hosea was known for his interesting sense of humor as well as his long stories. He often would ask when sharing information or advice, solicited or unsolicited: "Are you listening? Or What did I say?” We will miss these questions, especially-Repeat after me!!!Hosea Timothy Blackwell leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Geneva Bennett Blackwell; five sisters, Jacqueline Blackwell (Indianapolis), Joyce Blackwell (Baltimore), Veronica Blackwell Hairston (Chestnut Ridge, New York), Laverne Blackwell (Beltsville and Linda Bryant (Baltimore); one brother, Johnny Reaves; one brother-in-law, James Hairston; two nephew, Jayson and Jarrett Hairston; two nieces, Javi and Briana; two aunts, Ann Bennett and Mary Jackson; one uncle, Lawrence Tisdale; special “best” friend/brother, Arnold Church; and a host of other relatives, church family, and friends. Hosea Timothy Blackwell will be missed by all. He touched so many lives everyday in so many different and significant ways that will continue to make a difference for years to come. Hosea has joined the heavenly choir which was his greatest desire. Now, he can share as many stories as he chooses to do so!
