Hattie Marie Gaymon

Hattie Marie Gaymon was a kind,caring and loving daughter,mother,sister,grandmother and friend. She loved her children,grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized. Hattie was born September 30,1943 in Richmond,Virginia. Hattie graduated from Armstrong High School in the Richmond Public School System. She loved to sing and she sang in her high school choir for four years. She also sang in the children's choir of her church. Because of her loving spirit for children she was employed at Richmond Public School as a Teacher's Assistant and Office Clerk. She retired after 27 years of service. Hattie was also a foster parent to many children through the Braley & Thompson Foster Care Service. Hattie kindly served faithfully as a member of Broomfield CME Church in Richmond,Virginia where she was ordained as a Deaconess. After retiring,Hattie relocated to Sumter,South Carolina. There she found joy in joining Emmanuel Methodist Church. She served faithfully in the activities throughtout her community. She participated in many civic duties such as Voter Registration throughout the city and assisted voters during the Obama election. After sharing her life with her family and friends,Hattie entered into her rest on Sunday,June 26,2011 in Sumter,South Carolina. Hattie was preceeded in death by:Frederick Patron,Jr.,Charles Joseph Simmons and her adopted daughter,Angel Joy Gaymon. Her fondest memories will be cherished by her mother,Bernice C. Smith,her father, Abe Gaymon(Helen),her brother,Kevin Gaymon,her five children:Aletha Peterson(James)Frederick Patron,lll(Rosa),Charlene Parker(Walter),Elaine Prost(David)Jeanette Crosswhite(Sean),her fourteen grandchildren:DeTon Patron,Rayhell Bobbitt,Jamie Smith,Frederick,lV,Vongene,Javon,Jaquan and Mario Patron,LaToya & Lavar Simmons,David & Elena Probst and Seanjanae & Quasia Crosswhite.her four great grandchildren:Iyanna Matthews,De-Jiyah & Gioanni Patron and Montee Williams,her uncle,Eddie Collins and a host of relatives and friends. Hattie's devoted friends were:Laverne Lightfoot,Betty Winn,Ann Smith,Derita Malcolm all of Virginia;Marcia Bytes,Frances English,Julia,Yvette,Nora,Mamie,Gene and Diane,all of Sumter,South Carolina;Ms. Gardenia of Atlanta,Georgia.
