Gordon W. Streeter

GORDON WAYNE STREETER, a man of strength, service, and immense heart, peacefully departed this life on March 19, 2026, at the Gilchrist Center in Baltimore, MD. Born on June 23, 1950, in Baltimore to the late Margaret Rorie and James Streeter, Gordon’s life was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community. Gordon was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. His journey took a courageous turn during his high school years when he answered the call to serve his country in the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable return, he dedicated 40 years of hard work to the Baltimore City Sanitation department, where he served as a supervisor. Even in retirement, Gordon couldn’t sit still. He became a pillar of his neighborhood, committing his time and skills to helping others with plumbing, heating, and roofing—always ensuring his community was well-taken care of. Gordon was a man of curiosity and soul. He had a deep, lifelong passion for guitars; he loved the instrument and spent many hours playing, filling his home with music. When he wasn’t playing a melody, he was often looking toward the heavens. He had a fascinating thing for telescopes, finding peace and wonder in gazing at the stars. Back on earth, he was famously known for his love of animals, keeping so many around that he “dang near had a petting zoo.” Whether he was strumming a string, spotting a planet, or tending to his animals, Gordon found beauty in every corner of the universe. Above all, Gordon lived for his family. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Whether he was going on long walks, laughing with friends, or creating memories with his “grands,” his presence was a constant source of warmth and stability. He is preceded in death by his grandsons Baby Kendall and Baby Kenston, and his stepson Jami Christian. Gordon leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Krystal Streeter and Marlita Streeter (Joseph Warren); son, Gordon Douglas (Renee Douglas); six grandchildren, Ko’Shae, Kris’Shae, Jurmiah, Kenzie, Kenadi and Joe’Siah; three great-grandchildren, Kori, De’Shae, and Kodi; two brothers, Keith Leggins and Millard Streeter; sister, Wanda Streeter; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
