Georgianna P. Moody

GEORGIANNA PERRY MOODY, daughter of the late Bessie and Charlie Perry, was born on October 18, 1923 in Wake Forest, North Carolina. She was the fourth child of fifteen. Georgianna was educated in the Public School System of Wake Forest, North Carolina and in 1940, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland. Her high school education was completed at Dunbar High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Education from Morgan State College. In later years, she received a Practical Nurse Certificate from St. Paul School of Nursing. Georgianna was joined in matrimony to the late Ernest Lee Moody on October 31, 1949. They were blessed with one child, Pierre. She was a devoted mother, a loving wife to her late husband and loyal friend. Her home was guardian to many. The doors of her home swung open wide to welcome many relatives and many of her son's friends. She shared a special relationship with many young people who considered her as their "Mom". Georgianna began her employment as a Field Director for the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland. She taught school in the Baltimore City Public School System at Forest Park Elementary School for several years. Her employment was continued with the Baltimore City Housing Authority and during her tenure, she was loaned to the Mayor's staff at Hollander Ridge as a Social Service Counsel with multi-families. The last position held was the Director of Adult Day Care Center until her retirement in 1988. Georgianna truly enjoyed Arts and Crafts, which she taught pottery at the Community College of Baltimore to the elderly. Many lessons were also shared with many of her church members at Timothy Baptist for a number of years. Georgianna lived a life for Christ and joined Timothy Baptist Church in 1955 under the pastorate of Rev. William Mayo. She was a devoted member and shared her gift and intense passion for teaching others during the years as Sunday School Superintendent, deaconess and she also enjoyed working with the Missionary Society. Georgianna peacefully succumbed to the victorious calling of our Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 14, 2014. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory: her son, Pierre and devoted daughter-in-law, Yvonne; granddaughter, Nikki Ellison (Kenneth); three sisters, Clara Vick, Marjorie Connors, and Doris Smith; two sisters-in-law, Gail Jordan and Elsye Robinson; a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
