Florence L. Fields

Daughter of the late Rosetta and Thomas Fields, was born on September 23, 1934 in Howard County, Maryland. Affectionately known to many as Aunt Florence and Nana," she peacefully transitioned from her earthly labor to heavenly reward on January 24, 2026 in her home, surrounded by family. From a young age Florence's life was defined by her deep faith and devotion to God. Her spiritual journey took root at St. Stephen's A.M.E. Church and Elkridge Christian Community Church, where she first dedicated her life to Christ. Later, she found a spiritual home at Zion Tower under the guidance of Bishop Frank House, where she flourished in her walk with the Lord. Florence received her education in the Howard County Public School System. After completing her education, she began a long and dedicated career at the Tip Top Motel in Elkridge, Maryland. A pillar of reliability, she served the establishment with excellent for 30 years before her well-deserved retirement. Florence was a women of deep devotion centered on her family and the simple joys of fellowship. Her kitchen was a place of warmth where she often prepared and enjoyed her favorite foods-crabs-, potato salad, and fried chicken. She lived for the connection of family reunions and cherished every spontaneous moment spent with her beloved sisters Curly and Sissy. A natural nurturer, Florence was a "second mother" to her many nieces and nephews, offering a steady, loving presence that was never more than a phone call away. Known for her remarkable consistency, she eventually moved from Mayfield Avenue in Elkridge to her long-time home at 1313 Division Street before setting at Zion Towers apartments on Pennsylvania Ave., which remained her home for more than 40 years. In a testament to her steadfast nature, she kept the same phone number, 410 383-1303. Florence was preceded in death by those she held most dear: her beloved daughter, Rosemary, her grandson, Marlowe Sr;, her brothers: William, Robert, Gilbert, and Albert; and her sisters: Helen and Mary Ellen. In a poignant final chapter, her brother, Melvin affectionately known as "Smack" followed her into eternal rest just days later. Florence leaves to cherish her precious memories: brother, John "Tommy"; sister Carolyn "Curly"; granddaughter-in-love, Dara great-grandchildren: Derrel (Andria), Brittney (Dominic), and Marlowe Jr,; great-great-grandchildren: Malachi, DeAja, Ava, Unique and Draylin; god-daughter Danita; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins friends and her church family.
