Ella Roberta Williams Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Obituary Ella Roberta Williams was born October 5, 1931 to the late Curtis Peebles and Alice Kee in Northampton County Seaboard, North Carolina. She passed at MCV Hospital and entered into eternal life on September 23, 2012. She is preceded in death by her husband George W. Williams, Sr. and her son, Melvin Long. She was educated in the Seaboard, North Carolina school system. She moved to Newark, NJ in the early fifties where she met the love of her life George Williams. They married November 28, 1959 and reared a son, Melvin Long. Ella was a homemaker for the Goldberger family in East Orange, NJ. There she provided loving care to their daughter Amy and continued a life-time friend for more than 50 years. Ella could make the best fried chicken and b“fudge” we have ever had. Ella believed in her Lord and Savior. Our beloved Ella will be missed by all. We know that she lives in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her. Because of the wonderful love she shared, she will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. We were so fortunate to have had her in our lives and we feel empty without her, but we know she would want us to “stay strong”. Ella showed strength and courage throughout her life serving as a role model for her family and friends. We will miss her dearly! She leaves to cherish her memory two grandchildren, Inez Montalmant and Andre Robinson; six great-grandchildren; loving and caring sisters, Erma Kee of Highland Springs, Virginia and Ophelia Hatten of Norfolk, Virginia, Selena Logan of Richmond and Francis Harrison of Richmond; one brother, George Kee of Queens, New York; devoted family members and friends that cared for her: Alisha Garner Dickerson, Wayne Britt, La’Keesha Kee, Tonisha Burton, and a special niece, Cheryl Kee-Stanberry; a “play” daughter, Amy Arons of Burke,Virginia; mother-in-law, Mary Williams of Washington, DC; one sister-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. God looked around his garden and saw an empty space. He then looked down upon this earth and saw Ella’s smiling face. God’s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. It broke our heart to see Ella go, but she did not go alone. For part of us went with her the day God called her home.
