Elizabeth Thomas

ELIZABETH PETERS THOMAS was born the fourth child of eleven (11) siblings on January 19, 2015 to the late Reverend John C. Peters and Essie Sellers Peters in Bethune, South Carolina. Elizabeth departed this earthly life on August 30, 2015 to be with her heavenly father. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Sandy Level Baptist Church, in Bethune, South Carolina. Later, she joined Nazareth Baptist Church in Cassett, South Carolina where her father, Reverend John C. Peters was the pastor. Elizabeth received her education in the South Carolina Public School System and graduated from Jackson High School in Camden, South Carolina. Upon graduating from high school, she married the love of her life, Isaiah Thomas. From this union three daughters were born, Dorothy, Annette and Bernice. Her loving husband, Isaiah; her precious daughter, Annette; her sweet granddaughter, Latrell; great-granddaughter, Amber; six brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. In 1957, Isaiah and Elizabeth moved to Baltimore, Maryland. After settling in their new home, Elizabeth was employed at Baltimore Overall Company. Elizabeth had a great love for children. This led her to become an entrepreneur and open her own daycare service. The children Elizabeth looked after grew up, but they never grew away from her. Elizabeth became a member of Jones Tabernacle Baptist Church (now known as The Tabernacle of the Lord) where she was a faithful member for over fifty (50) years. Elizabeth loved to be surrounded by her family. She was a fantastic cook and took great pleasure in preparing meals for her loved ones. She also loved to travel. She loved to read and she enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas. Elizabeth believed that she led a very blessed and full life. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Dorothy and Bernice of Baltimore, MD; five grandchildren, Keith, Sr., Kevin, Kamie and Kacia; four great-grandchildren, Keith, Jr., Darius, Devon, Iyan and Zavian; two brothers, Benjamin Peters of Myrtle Beach, SC and Reverend Wesley Peters of Myrtle Beach, SC; one son-in-law, Reverend Dr. Bernard Wilkes of Newark, NJ; one step-daughter, Ora Lee Moore of Philadelphia, PA; one brother-in-law, Bennie Lee Thomas of Bethune, SC; four sisters-in-law, Dr. Alice Ruth Peters of Myrtle Beach, SC, Alice Peters and Barbara Peters of Englewood, NJ, and Von Peters of Camden, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
