Elizabeth Blount

Elizabeth Blount, daughter of the late Charles and Josephine Allen, was born on October 10, 1912 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this earth early Saturday morning, August 6, 2005, after a brief illness. God blessed her with 92 years of life and happiness.She received her education in the Baltimore City Public and Parochial school systems. She lived in Baltimore City all 92 years of her life. She was baptized Catholic, and attended St. Pius Catholic Church. She later and until her passing, attended The New Bethlehem Baptist Church on Carey Street. God’s love, peace and grace were ministered to her under the very fine Dr. Anthony Michael Chandler.Elizabeth was a proud and graceful lady, known for her walk with an air of dignity, love of dressing, and enjoying life to the fullest. As we might say today “she never missed a beat.” Midway in her life, God changed Elizabeth. She continued to love dressing and walked that graceful walk, but her joy of life to the fullest became a joy of life in God’s loving hands. Her family and those who knew her witnessed a quiet and peaceful woman. She never appeared to be upset, never complained, and often responded with “alright”, whenever she was asked how she was doing. Actually, she was alright. Up to her brief illness, God blessed Elizabeth with the ability to take care of her personal needs and the needs of others.The last 33 years of her life were spent with her caregiver, Liza Richardson. God blessed her to live with a loving Christian family. Mrs. Richardson’s children, grand-children and relatives have loving memories of Elizabeth.She leaves to cherish her memories and thank God for her life: one daughter, Katherine Saunders; eight grandchildren, Van, Jacqueline, Jeanette, Carolyn, Betty, Maxine, Barbara, Jonathan, and Richard, who proceeded her in death; two granddaughters-in-law, Lisa and Beverly; three grandsons-in-law, Paul Foster and Cornell; three sisters, Helen Bertina and Cecilia, all proceeding her in death; two brothers, Charles and Joseph; 11 great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; her caregiver Liza Richardson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
