Dorothy Ross

On Wednesday February 26, 2025, God sent his angels to call his earthly daughter home for eternal rest surrounded by her family. Dorothy Ross, daughter to the late Robert Brunson Sr. and Landletter Smith-Blackshear was born on January 12, 1951, in Manning, South Carolina. She was the baby girl of three siblings. Dorothy gained her early education through Clarendon County public school’s systems where her family worked to live; they were sharecroppers in the country fields “living off the fat of the land” as their mom would say. At the age of 10, they moved to Baltimore City for a better living. She went to receive her GED in 1988, then on to secretary school. Dorothy, affectionately known as “Dot or Mama Dot”, was an outstanding independent mother to her four children and their friends. She threw the best parties in town! Halloween celebrations were hands down and Birthdays were epic celebrations in the basement alongside the pool table. She was a great hostess with her southern hospitality and wit. Dot was in a bowling league in the late 80’s and won many awards. Dot’s passion of working with her hands lead her into the home improvement field at Home Depot where she retired after 20+ years of work. All the knowledge she obtained at Home Depot was creatively displayed by the works of her hands in her home throughout the years. She would refurbish her furniture, change the fabric, paint or sometimes just refinish the whole entire room. This craft and skill taught her as a woman how to utilize certain tools and inspired her passion for interior decorating. She loved to go fishing with her grandchildren and family as you could find them anywhere on a nice warm day with our lines in the water. Mama Dot made the best Spaghetti and Lasagna in the world and was overall known to be the best cook in the family! Mama Dot will surely be missed and leaves behind her legacy her three daughters and a son Diana(Rodell), Shannon (Laschelle) Salena and Camie, eight grandchildren Shanae, Kalani, Kaiya, Leila, LaShay, Dorian, Maddox & Cabriel, bonus grandchildren Dywon (Valerie), Shawn, Heaven & Azahria, one sister Fannie Brunson, one God-daughter Christlynne, a daughter-in-love Tamika, she was preceded in death by her brother Robert Brunson Sr. (Carolyn), son in-law Rodell Womack and forever cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & family.
