Dr. Demark McCloud

Dr. Demark McCloud, age 83, of Ellicott City, Maryland, peacefully departed this life on June 7, 2026. He was born on May 19, 1943, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to the late Booker T. McCloud and Castello McCloud. Dr. McCloud is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Dr. Earnestine McCloud; his devoted daughter, LaNisha Robinson; his cherished grandsons, Bryce and Evan Robinson; his son-in-law, Jamaal Robinson; his loving sister, Bernice Stinson; his brother, Steve McCloud; and a host of extended family and friends who will deeply miss him. He is preceded in death by his siblings Charles, Booker T., and Mary McCloud. A proud graduate of Atkins High School, Dr. McCloud continued his academic journey at Winston-Salem State University, earned his master’s degree from North Carolina A&T State University, and completed his doctorate at Berkley University in Chicago. His lifelong commitment to education led him to serve as an outstanding college professor and counselor at Morgan State University for 33 years, where he inspired and guided countless students. Dr. McCloud was a distinguished and active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the Knights of Columbus. He was deeply rooted in his faith as a devout Roman Catholic, living a life guided by service, integrity, and compassion. Known for his determination, creativity, and accommodating spirit, Dr. McCloud was a man who placed family at the center of his life. He was a devoted husband and father whose presence reflected strength, care, and unwavering support. He encouraged excellence and resilience in those he loved, instilling values that will continue to shape generations. He found great joy in gardening and took immense pride in maintaining an immaculate lawn that became well known throughout the community. Neighbors and friends admired not only the beauty of his work, but also the dedication behind it. He often shared words of wisdom that reflected his outlook on life, reminding others that, “It is not your aptitude, but your attitude, that determines your altitude.” A funeral mass in celebration of Dr. McCloud’s life will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Windsor Mill, Maryland, on June 16,2026 at 11:00. A viewing will be held prior to the service at St. Gabriel Catholic Church at 10:30. Dr. Demark McCloud leaves behind a legacy of love, excellence, faith, and quiet strength that will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
