David Lewis Sherman

David Lewis Sherman, affectionately known as DJ Dave and DJ Big Groove, peacefully entered eternal rest on June 19, 2026, at the age of 57, surrounded by his loving family and friends. A lifelong resident of the Wilson Park community in Baltimore City. David was the beloved son of James and Patricia Sherman. He was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools. With hard work and determination, he later earned his GED. For more than 40 years, David was a respected DJ and was best known for his passion for music and his craft of spinning vinyl records while entertaining the crowd. His Hip-Hop and House Music mixes can still be heard on different radio and internet platforms which touched countless lives throughout Baltimore and beyond. He built lasting friendships with many DJs throughout the music community. Everyone knew he wasn't simply a DJ; he was the soundtrack to countless celebrations and cherished memories. David's faith was the foundation of his life. He was raised at New Frontiers of the Faith Baptist Church and later rededicated his life to Jesus Christ. He was an example of Proverbs 22:6- train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he shall not depart from it. He worshiped at Kingsway Bible Baptist Church and World Changers International. Because of his faith he always wanted the best for others, according to the word of God. David enjoyed swimming, playing the drums, making people laugh, and engaging in trash talking and lively debates. He stood firmly by his convictions and always thought he was right and knew everything. You couldn’t tell him otherwise. Lol. Even though his playful sarcasm, and stubborn determination were all part of his big personality, those who got to know him came to truly love and appreciate his quick wit and big heart. David's life was a testimony of extraordinary strength and perseverance. Defying the odds, he lived for 25 years while receiving dialysis, overcoming multiple challenges that most people would never survive. Through every trial and tribulation, he demonstrated remarkable resilience, unwavering faith, and an unbreakable spirit. He embodied Proverbs 18:14-The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; But a wounded spirit who can bear? HE FOUGHT HARD. HE FOUGHT LONG. HE FOUGHT WELL.
