Cynthia L. Felix

CYNTHIA LORETTA FELIX was born to the late Alexander G. Colvin and the late Bessie Robinson Colvin on October 2, 1950, in Fort Meade, Maryland. On October 21, 2009 she heard her heavenly Father call and answered.Cynthia’s Christian education started at an early age at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. As a young adult she was a member of Berea Lutheran Church and later joined New Psalmist Baptist Church.She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System graduating from Patterson High School in 1968. Cynthia continued her education by attending the Maryland Institute of Art, earning several credits.In 1995 Cynthia was joined in marriage to Wilson Felix of Port de Prince, Haiti. Cynthia was employed by Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company, in telecommunications. During the various transitions of the company and her promotion she retired after thirty-seven years of service. Also she had employment with Zales Jewelers in Baltimore, the Rock Hill Public School District as a substitute teacher, Hancock Fabric, and as a licensed bartender.Over the years Cynthia received many diplomas, certificates and awards. She received diplomas for fashion merchandising, journalism, and short story writing; certification for pearl and bead stringing, jewelers-stone setting, bartending, and master gardener from Clemson University. She was a distinguished member of the International Society of Poets, a lifetime member of the International Freelance Photographers receiving awards from both organizations.In 2003 she moved to Rock Hill, South Carolina and became an active member in the community. Cynthia was a very independent free spirit. She was adventurous and traveled to many places.She leaves to cherish her memory: sister, Hazel Maddox, Andera Colvin and Alexis Perkins; brother, Benjamin Colvin; sister-in-law, Shelia Colvin; brother-in-law, Daniel Maddox; nieces, Keisha Maddox, Kendra Colvin, Danyelle Maddox, Kele Lassiter and Renee Felton; nephews, Benjamin Felton, Kareem Colvin and Brian Colvin; nine great-nieces and seven great-nephews; aunts, Evelyn Barnes, Ola Jackson, Inell Colvin and Toni Colvin; uncles, William Colvin and Dr. Ernest Colvin all of Baltimore, Maryland; special cousin, Helen Simms of Rock Hill, South Carolina; a multitude of cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
