Charlotte P. Henderson

Our beloved mother, Charlotte P. Henderson went to be with our heavenly Father on July 10, 2015 in Beaver Falls, PA. She had just celebrated her 90th birthday a month earlier. Charlotte was born on June 9, 1925 in the outskirts of Lake City, South Carolina. She was the second of Henrietta and Willie Pressley. She went to school in Lake City and lived most of her young years on a farm with her siblings, Earl (preceded her in death), Thomas and Annie Mae. At age 18, she moved to Washington, D.C. and later married in 1947. In 1961, Charlotte married Charles Henderson. She loved to sing and sang in the choir at Gillis Memorial Church in Baltimore. She traveled with them and got an opportunity to sing with famous gospel singer, James Cleveland. She even made a single record. When she wasn't working, she spent a lot of time at the church and was an active member. Her children remember many nights finding her asleep on the side of her bed after hours of praying for those she loved so much. She spent her free time sewing, listening to Christian radio and taking care of her nine children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for many years. She worked at Bethesda Naval Medical Center, the Baltimore Country Club for many years and then at Fort Meade. She had children, Carrie Mae (Mae), Judera (Judy), Willie, Robert, Samuel (Princie), Paul (Pee-Wee), Lolita (Totsie), Mary (Bunnie), and Charles (Chucky). She was preceded in death by: her husband, Charles E. Henderson and five of her children, Carrie Mae (Mae), Willie, Robert, Samuel (Princie), and Mary (Bunnie). She is survived by: seventeen of twenty-one grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild, one sister, Annie Mae Wright; brother, Thomas Pressley of Washington, D.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Charlotte's life touched many, as she always was so open, kind, and friendly. She was always affected others around her with the love of Christ. She would constantly tell all those she met, "God bless you." She made it a point to always share God's mercy and love to others. Her warm and gentle spirit allowed others to be at ease. We will miss her dearly.
