Charles David Brooks, Sr.

CHARLES DAVID BROOKS, affectionately known as “David,” was born on June 6, 1953 in Choctaw, Alabama to the late Emma Brooks and Osie Ausbrooks. David departed this life on December 28, 2023 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents Emma and Osie, Johnny Edward (Brother), Walter Ausbrooks (Brother), Elizabeth Gardner (Sister) and Maybell Chaney (Sister). David received his education in Alabama and graduated from Choctaw High School in Choctaw County, Alabama in 1974. He lived in Detroit Michigan for a short period of time until he moved to Baltimore, MD to be with the love of his life Linda F. Thompson. David and Linda were united in Holy Matrimony on November 22, 1985 in Baltimore, MD. Together they forged a lifetime filled with love, creating a strong foundation for their family. David was a family man and no matter how far or near, he ensured that an enduring bond was formed and enduring love left an everlasting mark in the hearts of his loved ones. David worked several jobs over the course of his lifetime, but found his niche in the paving industry. Through his hard work and commitment, he not only built roads but paved the way for a fulfilling career with Monumental Paving & Excavating Company in Baltimore, MD. His strong work ethic and determination inspired those fortunate enough to work alongside him. David retired from Monumental Paving as the Road Crew Supervisor. May his legacy endure like the roads he helped create. After retirement David decided to keep busy by going to work part-time with Lowes in the Lumber and Garden departments. He genuinely enjoyed helping customers and formed forever friendships with his co-worker. As a result of working in the lumber and gardening departments, David developed a hobby and passion for gardening. He created a home garden where he planted and grew greens, cabbage, broccoli, tomatoes and squash to name a few. He also had a peach tree, fig tree, chickens and roosters. David found joy and companionship with his pets, he shared his home with several cats and dogs. David was known as Mr. Fix it around the house, however; It didn’t always turn out “Fixed” The shed was a little crooked, the chicken coop was a bit lop sided, the tree house was ‘enter at your own risk’ and the patio wasn’t the prettiest, but no matter what David attempted to build, he made it all with LOVE. David leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Linda F. Thompson- Brooks of Baltimore, MD; daughter, Kimberly Anitra Brooks of AL; sons, Ramone Brooks of AL, Andre Rogers (Tekesha) of Baltimore, MD, Charles Brooks Jr. of Portland, OR and Christopher Brooks Sr. of Baltimore, MD; granddaughters, Akira, Azalia and Gabrielle; grandsons, Matthew, Jaden, Romelo, Braxton, Camron, Christopher Jr. and Cayson; brothers, Eddie Brooks (Michelle) of Huntsville, AL, Thomas Ausbrooks (Sherryl) of Detroit, MI and Micheal Brooks (Pamela); sisters, Sadie Gordon of Pennington, AL, Brenda Toodle of Mobile, AL, Louise Maye (Rickey) of York AL, Gloria Mitchell of Pennington, AL, Janice Chaney (Ronald) of Bellamy, AL and Cynthia Hughes of Pascagoula, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
