Catherine B. Richardson

Catherine “ Yean” Richardson was born Catherine Bowden on September 8, 1943 in Mt. Gilead, NC to the late Cebie Sr. and Minnie Bowden. She fought a GREAT fight after the onset of a a sudden illness before being called home to God on March 3, 2011. Her brother Marvin Bowden preceded her in death. Yean was raised in Mt. Gilean and attended Peabody High School in Troy, NC. She played the trumpet for her school band and enjoyed music and dancing. As a young adult, Yean worked at United Mill in North Carolina before moving to Baltimore with her children in 1970. After arriving to Baltimore with her family, she worked at City Hospital, some of Baltimore's retail stores and Bugles Laundry for many years. After many years of hard work, Yean became a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She wanted the very best for them and wanted them to be happy. She loved to eat at The Golden Coral with her family. She was very generous and always willing to give her last. She would not hesitate to open her home or her heart to those in need. Yean was very funny and a true original. When she came around, a good laugh or two were sure to follow. She was never afraid to let you know what was on her her mind. Many of us would hear her say” don't start no stuff... won't be no stuff”. You knew exactly what she meant. Yean was Definitely one of kind. Catherine leave to cherish her memory: her loving and devoted husband Calvin Richardson; six children, Marie Marshall- Duncan, Bertha Mae Mckinney, Richard Jr. Stephanie, Marcus and James Marshall; 10 siblings, Betty Thurman, Cebie Jr. and Jessie Bowden, Shelia Ferguson, Atlas and William Bowden, Carol Champion, Billy, Dester and Lester Bowden; 11 grandchildren, Lachelle, Antoine, Shaun, Shameka, Shakeeda, Shandrea, Tiffani, Antonette, Sidney, Montre, and Morgan; 5 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Camryn, Kaniya, Kennedy, and Keniya; two sister-in-law, Ella and Brenda Bowden; two brother-in-laws, Elder Champion and Chelsey Ferguson Jr.; two son-in-law, Robert McKinney and Wade Duncan; nieces, nephews, three step-daughters, Deanna, Dennie, and sheila; and a host of other relatives and friends
