Carolyn M. Smith

Carolyn Michele Smith, daughter of Alean (Ivey) Smith and the late James Smith, was born on December 19, 1957 in Baltimore, Maryland. At an early age, Carolyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Unity Baptist Church in Baltimore. In her adult years, Carolyn joined Ark Church under the leadership of Pastor James L. Carter. At the Ark Church, Carolyn rededicated her life to Christ and was baptized. Carolyn remained a member in good standing at Ark Church until she became too ill to attend.Carolyn received her education in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from Harbor City High School in 1976. She attended The Community College of Baltimore for two years, but decided to change her career focus and graduated from the Medix School. She was employed as a Dental Assistant and then worked for Multi Medical Nursing Home as a Dietary Aide. In 1980, Carol began employment with The Social Security Administration and worked there for seven years. In January 1987, Carol transferred to the United States Postal Service and became a Letter Carrier and worked there through September 2006, when she became ill.Carolyn’s enjoyment in life was truly her children. Carolyn was a very dedicated mother who was fiercely protective of them. She often took summer vacations with them to various beaches, theme parks and resorts. One of her favorite places to vacation with the kids was Wildwood, New Jersey, because it was just a short distance to Atlantic City for the adults. Traveling was also one her favorite pastimes. She enjoyed sailing to the Caribbean and flying to Las Vegas with her girlfriends. Carolyn really enjoyed going to the Bingo Halls and to the Casinos in neighboring states. Carolyn had a group of special girlfriends she remained very loyal to. It was often with these friends she laughed, carried, traveled, and partied (she loved good times and a good laugh), Carolyn’s friends remained with her until she passed. Carolyn leaves a lifetime of good memories for her children, family and friends.Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory; her daughters, Candice and Brandi; her son Brandon; her mother, Alean Smith; sister, Barbara Ayers, and brothers, Ronald, Andre, and Gregory; sister-in-law, Lavern; a goddaughter, Danicka and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Carolyn also leaves to mourn two special aunts, Sadie Smith and Lattice McNeil.
