Bridgette Holland-King

In Loving Memory of A Life Well-Lived “Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation.” Bridgette (Holland) King was born on May 4, 1960 in Claxton, Georgia to the late Walter and Broteen Holland. She departed this life on Thursday morning June 18, 2020 to the pearly gates of heaven to be with her loved ones. Bridgette graduated from Claxton High School in 1978. She furthered her education at Albany State College and Savannah State University where she received the Degree of Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and also her Master’s Degree in business management. Bridgette was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She pledged in the Fall of 1979 at Albany State University. Bridgette is a life-long member of the United House of Prayer for all People. At birth, her parents put her name on the House of Prayer roll under the leadership of Bishop W. McCollough. As a youngster she attended the House of Prayer in Claxton, Georgia. Her Christian journey came into full bloom after relocating to Savannah, Georgia in 1982 when she received the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Her service in the House of Prayer attested to her faith and love of God and our Spiritual leaders, past and present (Daddy McCollough, Daddy Madison and Daddy Bailey). Bridgette joined the Young Adult Queens, she was instrumental in organizing an Ensemble singing group (Madison Echos), she sang on the choir (Madison Majestics) and was a booster for the Savannah Marching Eagles. She was a faithful and dedicated member to the many positions that she held. In 2007, she relocated to Chesterfield, Virginia and attended the House of Prayer in Richmond, Virginia. In Richmond, she joined the Bailey Hostess and carried out her duties with much anticipation of the next task. She also was the McCollough Scholarship College Fund Representative for the House of Prayer in Richmond, Virginia and was dedicated and faithful in her duties until God called her home. Bridgette Holland was united in holy matrimony with David King on October 10, 1981 in Savannah, Georgia. Their union was blessed with four wonderful children, Stefan, Donovan, Ashton and Ashelynn. Bridgette was employed by Chatham County Board of Education as Procurement Manager for over 15 years. Thereafter, an opportunity presented itself, in Chesterfield, Virginia as (CPPB) Certified Professional Public Buyer for Chesterfield County, Virginia Department of Purchasing. Bridgette accepted this position and relocated to Virginia in May, 2007. In May, 2016 an opportunity with the Commonwealth of Virginia became available. Bridgette accepted the position as Strategic Sourcing Consultant for the Virginia Information Technologies Agency but she actually served the entire commonwealth. In her role, she helped people solve highly complex technology and business problems. She ran projects to find suppliers and develop contracts, and she handled some of the most complex ones. She also provided outstanding customer service. Hers was a challenging position, but she handled it with grace and professionalism. She was highly thought of by her customers, vendors, and especially her peers. She was currently employed with State of Virginia at the time of her demise. Bridgette was preceded in death by her sister Bernice Martin and brother, Walter Holland, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband, David King; 6 daughters, Ashelynn King, Terri King-Johns, Savannah, GA, Ieisha King, Charlotte, NC, Enneisha Denson & Auril Denson, Claxton, GA and Shantell Luckett, Savannah, GA; 4 sons, Stefan King, Donovan King and Ashton King all of Chesterfield, VA, Curtis Moore, Thompson, GA; 3 sisters, Betty Woodley, Claxton, Ga, Mareatha Lindsay (William), Port St. Lucie, FL and Annette Kilcrease, Chesterfield, VA; 3 brothers, Charles Holland (May Dell), Savannah, GA, Gary Holland (Diane), Hagan, GA, and Gilbert Holland (Linda), Conyers, GA; 2 granddaughters, Londyn and Nori King, Chesterfield, VA; sister-in-law, Sharon King-Childs, Atlanta, GA; uncle, Jay Mincey (Deloris) Paterson, NJ; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
