Beverly M. Morton-Turner

Beverly Marie Morton-Turner was born January 26, 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Samuel Morton and Christine (Barbara) Morton. Her grandmother, “Ma-Johns”, brought her up in a Christian environment, raising her, caring for her, and loving Beverly as her own. She was educated in the Baltimore City public school system, a graduate of Edmondson High School Class of ’71. She had a successful career as a computer specialist with Bank of America prior to her illness. Those close to Beverly knew her to be a quiet person, one who enjoyed spending quality time with family and an intimate circle of close friends. She was an excellent cook who loved to prepare meals for family and friends. Her specialties: macaroni and cheese, cornbread, and Maryland crabs in season. She could often be found in the company of her three closest friends, Clare, Bunny, and Brenda, her best friend from high school. Beverly and her children faithfully attended Greater Harvest Pentecostal Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Bishop Willie L. Jones and First Lady Bobbie J. Jones. It was here that she confessed Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, here where she learned the beauty of living a Godly life, and here where she was united in holy matrimony to David Turner. At the time of her passing, she was a member of the Miracle Tabernacle of God under the leadership of Pastor Brenda Brown where she served as the Church Secretary until she became ill. On Sunday, April 6th, 2014 at University of Maryland Medical System, Beverly quietly departed this life after a lengthy illness. Throughout her illness and hospitalization, she remained steadfast in her faith. She leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Thomas Pearson, Charles Pearson, Gene Hemphill, Kevin Hemphill: one daughter, Brenda Hemphill: daughter-in-law, Betty Whiting-Pearson: seven grand children: Ananda Hemphill, Anija Hemphill, Diamond Pearson, Crystal Pearson, Dejuan Knight, Lariah Matthews, Chamere Smith: sister, Cynthia Morton- Hamilton: brother, Samuel Morton: one uncle, Raymond Rucker: one aunt, Apostle Myra Anderson ; a very special young lady who was like a daughter, Jennifer Washington, future daughter-in-law, Sheria Way: a friend who was like a sister to her, Pastor Brenda Brown, and a host of cousins, family and friends.
