Betty Saunders-George

Betty Saunders- George, fifth child born of nine children, was born May I, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Matthew Saunders and Katherine Saunders. She departed this earth on Monday, October 6,2014, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Betty was educated in the Baltimore City School System. She attended and graduated from the Forest Park Senior High School in 1971. She matriculated at the University of Maryland, College Park, where upon graduation in 1975 she received a degree in Special Education. Betty pursued her passion of educating children, teaching in the Baltimore City School system on the Elementary &; High School levels. After 36 years of stellar service, she retired in 2011. Betty received her spiritual training &; nurturing at an early age. When she accepted the Lord as l1er personal Savior, she was baptized and became an active member of the Unconditional Love of Christ in Action Church. There she was elevated to Evangelist. Her belief was that salvation and service to God is the highest calling in life. She was an exemplary woman of faith. Betty possessed many God/given gifts &; talents. She was known as a great organizer, planner, decorator, artist, and perfectionist. She had a keen eye and was very poised and fashionable, dressing for every occasion and coordinated from head to toe. Betty'S heart was fashioned after God's will; she was loving, generous with her giving, and serious about spreading the good news of Jesus Christ! Betty was united in Holy matrimony to Foster George on August 23, 1980, at the Augsburg Lutheran Church. Although there were no children born to this union, Betty was, nevertheless, a great wife, mother/figure, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her father, Matthew Saunders; brother, Richard Saunders; and sister, Barbara Saunders. She leaves to cherish her memory: loving mother, Katherine; devoted husband, Foster; four sisters, Jackie Graham, Jeanette Hopkins, Carolyn Lee (Paul), Maxine Johnson (Cornel); two brothers, Van "Michael" Eaton (Lisa), and Jonathan Dukes (Beverly); two brother-in-law.jose' (Valarie) and Stanley (Denecia) of St. Thomas, U.S.V.!; one Goddaughter/niece Asha George of New York; three Godsons, Troy &;Travis Shaw and "D"eoleous A. Parker and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
