Bernard Nathaniel Randolph

BERNARD NATHANIEL RANDOLPH was the son of the late William and Julia Randolph, born October 25, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the elder brother to Dorothy, Jean, James and William. During his youth, Bernard loved to spend time with his close family and friends in Howard County, Maryland. He always reminisced about all he learned from his close relatives, as well as the great times that were had by all. Bernard received his formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System. After completing his studies at the famous Frederick Douglass High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945. During his enlistment, he served in World War II and was honorably discharged, March 1947. In March 1953, Bernard united in Holy Matrimony with Doris Lokeman. From this union, they were blessed with a loving son, Tyran Bernard. "Caggy" as he was affectionately known, was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation working his way from coal operator to a master welder. He traveled throughout the United States and several European countries to master his trade. He finally retired in 1990, after 32 years of service, only to become the family and neighborhood handy man, taxi service, and "Honey do". Bernard was an active member of the Campfield A.M.E. Church. He became the church's maintenance advisor and major fund raiser through the can drive. During his tenure at Campfield, Brother Bernard served on the Steward Board, Men's Day Committee, and Men's Day Choir. He was very active until his illness prevented him from attending. He was a proud and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Bernard enjoyed traveling, sports, and the Home Shopping Network. He will leave a void in the hearts of many. It has been pure joy having him in our lives. On Monday, October 24, 2005 at 1:05 a.m., Bernard gained his independence and entered a place where the soul is safe and free to live with God through eternity. He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife, Doris L.; one son, Tyran Bernard, Sr.; three grandchildren, Ashley, Tyran Jr. and Precious; two sisters, Jean Lloyd and Dorothy Lizers; two brothers, James Mackall and William Washington; four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law; lifelong friends, Pedro, Conway and Geraldine; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
